Re: Unreal Tournament 469

Overall I'd say this is good news. I know of certain license agreements from other teams such as Caustic Creative with their Deus Ex Revision project (which is also Unreal Engine based - not sure whether you could shortcut a few engine related bugfixes by contacting them...) and this is certainly a ...

Re: -= What about a new mapping contest? =-

Interesting style. Not sure the textures blend in as well, but that can always be changed. On a far less positive note, I'm pretty sure I won't get anything done by time. I'm having a few layout ideas and a few things scribbled on my noteblock, nothing particularly satisfying, or worth doing though....

Re: -= What about a new mapping contest? =-

Why not just make a potpourri for the anniversary? Don't care about much else. I still do have a few layout ideas sitting around and am bound to do nothing right now, so might as well try and get back into the groove again.

Re: XC_Engine version 23 full

I'm a bit lost at what XC-Engine does at this point and what it actually is - but one of my friends from Caustic Creative (the Deus Ex Revision modding team) gave word that their resident Coder han has fixed a longwithstanding engine rendering issue where sometimes surfaces on the side of the FOV wo...

I think there was a file for the TMC one... in any case, you have my permission for the distribution of DM-TMC-Narean.

Still extremely hot. Just got off an 8 hour shift at 36° degrees. No sign of getting cooler.

Re: BSP holes revealed. TIP

Are there any supercuts in the bsp? That's a likely cause. In that case you can try to make the supercut go away by shifting one vertex in that cut. You'd have to realign the terrain, but chances are you get rid of the bsp hole. Or you could try and add a single, solid brush somewhere along the cut....

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

Finally got to play v1.9c. Couple of thoughts: Layout is still good. Still getting lost a metric fuck ton but it's getting better and most of it is probably me anyway. Playerstart near one of the thighs feels weird, though, and thighs0 still aren't getting visited at all. Might need to throw some vi...

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

It's been 14 years and you pretty much can only count on the same names to come up of something good consistently. You're drawing the picture of a thriving mapping community when what I see is a handful of people, mostly close friends, doing all the work while the community itself is oblivious to w...

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

The UT community has a pretty great archive right now actually. Pretty much everything has been preserved. Issue is sifting through all those files to actually find the good ones. And with regular mapping contests I think UT also gets a good amount of maps even to this day. And I think that back in ...

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

Yes, due to its age, most stuff has been lost. DavidM, unrealed.info... even the old unreal wiki contains stuff mostly used for unrealed 3.0. Hey, when UT was released most people still went online by modem so I think the game has had an exceptionally long life cycle. Personally, I also think it's n...

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

Ok, since it was brought up, what's your excuse for nothing having a tutorial in level design pinned on mapping? Mostly because at the time I was starting with unrealed, there were already very good tutorials. Quick search from google doesn't give any results, though. Anybody around still...

Re: DM-BrokenFaith (WIP)

The higher contrast range will make it easier to identify other players, so that's a plus. If you like it, use it. :) I think the general layout is working. There are a lot of ways to tweak botsupport even if just to emulate a certain behavior (had to do so with AMC-Ars_Indus, and I'm sure there are...
