Re: Some of my curiosity

This discussion seems weird. In my experience, texture means nothing, it is the position/rotation/orientation of the sheet BRUSH that determines whether the two portal zones will correctly "match" (i.e. work properly). It is only the portal flag. I usually set the surface unlit although this likely ...

Re: Map Recommendation

@Sektor2111 - he heh ya'll know that's a 300K map? iirc a concept map made really fast for a Unreal Playground Blito3 contest.. Although that type of Warpzone map has been done before many times by others in ut99 history, it was intended to provide a CTF that was a bit different in the contest. Not ...

Re: Having issues, maps keep crashing

That info is all on the forum/site here somewhere. I remember creavion sorting me out when i first installed the ...

@OjitroC - wow, I think that's almost at the beginning of "country" music, isn't it? Didn't the Carter family spread bluegrass around that morphed into what became known as "country & western" music? One thing's for sure these folks were great musicians as well as singers/songwriters.

Re: Brush Work/BSP Best Practices

Thank you ferali :) not sure i'd want to make a map out of semi-solid, lol - i will add another little tid-bit of truth: Semi-solids do not occlude. They do not make cuts in BSP, they do however make cuts in them selves, thus can have co-planer polygon issues same as "solid" surfaces. For fun, go ha...

Re: Brush Work/BSP Best Practices

wow, really late to this party :P Thank you Swanky for such concise information (and the others that added additional commentary). Looking through the posts this is one of those "golden" threads especially for new mappers. I have nothing to add really, other than (in _my_ experience) best to ALWAYS ...

Re: UT99 Polycounts?

stat fps - these numbers do not include mesh polygons stat global - other dynamic values - possibly some relate to polygons... stat fps was a good guide. if you go much past 400 polys/800 nodes ue1 on that meter the engine has problems. The original ue1 is a rendering "fossil" compared to most games...

Re: Justice vs Doom, CTF pathing request

man, that's one fugly map. Keep in mind the star trek panels that fragnbrag "used" in his maps were either composited or created art from various star trek media sources (using samples from the lcars web sites, extracts altered from ds9 fallen, elite force 1 and elite force 2). There were a few othe...
