Re: Dealing with a persistent cheater

My work is done here. If you replied to me about this I have sent you further information. Please don't PM me here, I hardly ever log in. Email me instead if you have any questions, etc.

Re: Changeing the "color" of the darkness?

Basically the same thing as a normal light, but it would have a negative lighting value. So is such thing not possible in UT? Short answer: no. Not so short answer: Getting this in 227 required changes to the core that only Smirf has access to do. It's not possible to be done that way in UT. It's a...

Re: Dealing with a persistent cheater

@Isense (or anyone else really) Can you send me the log information on this guy? Joins/scans/whatever. I'm not so interested in chat so you can paste me the credential info if it's not too much trouble. BTW, I reached out to a couple of former (like way-back) community members I've been following fo...

Re: Dealing with a persistent cheater

Hardware hashing (processor or motherboard) is certainly a way but estimating them legitimately from serverside seems a distant dream to me. Dane knows his shit so I spent last evening reading up on polling hardware for identifying information. Yeah, it's doable but you really need a third-party so...

Re: Dealing with a persistent cheater

UTP was fantastic and worked very well...however it still suffers from one simple thing that prevents it from being anything more than a neat proof-of-concept project: Because UT has no CD key or serial assigning game ownership there's no foolproof way to positively ID someone every time without the...

Re: Dealing with a persistent cheater

I'm retired from gaming but reading this really pissed me off. At the risk of pulling a ban on myself I'll offer making you a nuclear payload that will destroy the cheaters installed game in such a way that they will need to reinstall it to play again. It would be a 'last and final' option but you w...

Re: loquebot

You aren't the first person to ask that. My guess though is that it's much more benign and probably tied to updating it's internal whitelist. Anth isn't a tinkerer-level guy so it's unlikely he would build shady stuff into it without a reason. Gathering IP's is increasingly pointless and the unique ...

Re: loquebot

Chamberly is right, it's not the only way but it is the best way. Using third party tools I can easily mask any unique identifier generated on my end. ACE will never be able to uniquely ID someone unless it generates a master list of players and assigns them a whitelisting code. Anth knows this and ...

Re: Pick 3 of your most-played maps from the 2018 AMC.

This is just going to hurt some people's feelings a bit more that actually competed in the contest and didn't do so well. That's a really great way to ensure they don't compete again, nothing like a little extra salt on a freshly healed wound. These contests should end and be replaced with a mapping...

Re: UnrealArchive.org

look for the history of unreal on victor delacroix and leo tck to add some files from them also before its lost forever. :gj: I siteripped everything they were doing, even the personal stuff like the porn mods and personal photos. It will never be 'lost' but I'd like time to talk to Leo to see what...

Re: Pop balloons beta4 source

I have everything D. Drop me an email and we can arrange getting it back to you. I'd avoid depending on me seeing PM's as I'm logging into the forums less and less so let's do this by email. I'll get you set back up with your entire repository if you want it. That kinda goes for everyone if you are ...

Re: Epic games releases...spyware?

My wife is a teacher, though at a high school level not a professorship. I get to see how debates and arguments happen in real time among them and the gloves come off really fast. It's often structured, direct, annotated but really harsh debate. I see the exact same thing in your reply and that's wh...

Re: Epic games releases...spyware?

Carbon, I love you buddy. You know that. I also know you don't mean it that way but it comes across as a little condescending and judge-y when you tell people that they (in essence) just don't know how dumb they really are. You should consider editing your post because it's a bit insensitive and I k...

Re: Creating message mutator

Post over at House of Fool's forum: https://hofgamingclan.com/forums/
The head guy there is a voice pack fanatic and they use 'zounds' type sound mods on their servers. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't written by him.

Re: Looking for someone to help make a "lite" version of New

If you use NN with BT then none of your records will be valid. The minute you allow clients to have say on their location over what the server thinks it should be you'll have a bunch of people cheating the record times. Hacked NN client packages used to come out nearly as fast as the initial releases.
