Re: Tool out there to extract mods/maps from UT directory ?

When you install a mod there's no preserved record of the dependencies. You'd need to scrape those from the references generated by opening the mod. It shouldn't be hard to make a Mapper's Dream tool for mods since UCC generates a dependency list as it tries to open the file. TBH there's probably no...

Re: Big Ugly CTF map needs feedback !!!!

Your 'big and ugly' is my 'unattainable'. I hope you know how blessed you are to have that kind of talent.

If you want to test this let me know and I'll put it on my server as a vanilla CTF.

Re: My contest entry

I'm sorry. It's fixed now and I double checked it. Sorry it's been like that all day. I've been down with a sore throat from hell. Slept a good part of the day. This brings up an interesting point. I compressed and redirected the file but I used the U227 install to do it because it's so damn fast. T...

Re: My contest entry

I went ahead and made the test server public if you want to try this out. If it gets posted then I guess I'll deal with it then. Trying to be proactive about it only created problems and I don't want to do that. Look for the server "gopo's Battle Royale" in deathmatch. It's going to have c...

Re: My contest entry

When I first started this project I had the intention of making the gametype along with a specific and required map. A big part of the Fortnite/PUBG game is the start where you are flying in a plane/bus and you have to choose where to parachute down at. I tested map setups to see the size limit and ...

Re: My contest entry

It could work for theoretically any map but my guess is that maps for other gametypes will need to have the setting removed in editor and renamed with a DM- badge. Mapvote probably won't load them if you tried to just run them as-is. The gametype only requires playerstarts and pathnodes, it will ign...

Re: MH-CTF-Command (?)

I looked and I don't have it but I do remember playing it. There wasn't anything special about it at all, it was just some placed scriptedpawns IIRC.

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

OGL for me and most of the people I know that I discuss it with. An update and question about my entry too. Credit to Smeer for the suggestion , I am renaming my project BRUT (Battle Royale UT). I have everything in pretty good shape so I was thinking about running a public server this weekend. I re...

Re: Need help with trace function for decal placement

I'll tell you that in practice it's actually pretty hard to randomly find a 128X128 flat wall surface that isn't obstructed when you are just blindly shooting out traces. Even in overall cubic maps like most of the stock DM maps you still may not get a single clear spot in 60 tries. I was pretty sur...

Re: Need help with trace function for decal placement

OFC I'll share the code (for what that's worth). Credit goes to Ferali and Higor for walking me through trace code. I'm using four classes: The first is the mutator. It does all the heavy lifting. class GraffitiMod extends Mutator config(BRUT); var int NumNodes, NavPoint, SprayAttempts; var bool Ini...

Re: Simple typing game

Our scanners at work have a keyboard but the engineers in their infinite wisdom made the keyboard alphabetical. They look like this: https://banner2.kisspng.com/20180627/hbw/kisspng-feature-phone-united-states-postal-service-intelli-usps-5b3355da32e989.0155816215300909702086.jpg Typing on that keybo...

Re: Need help with trace function for decal placement

I get your point but it's different to have it 'snowing' or 'raining' among clients versus painting graffiti on the walls. If players compare them (and I very much hope they do, I found some old ones) it would ruin the effect if they saw different things or some saw none at all.

Re: Need help with trace function for decal placement

I spawn a very low light onto the decal once it's placed so it can be seen even in a dark corner. It's not harsh, it barely lights the texture but I use that light to check for existing graffiti in the area. When the rocket explodes it does a radius check as the final thing and if there are no more ...

Re: UT99 cosplay, featuring the ripper

Can't MetalFists paper art scale up to work with something like this? You might have to get the sheets printed at Staples or an industrial printing outfit and get it done on card stock or thick posterboard but seems to me like you could make a bunch of associated things to go along with having the r...
