Re: Request: Mesh importing and Origin formula.

I've done this exact thing a ton of times and there's no real answer outside of trial and error. It's been my experience that when you import a mesh and scale it using the exec imports that it has no impact on the location of the origin in reference to the mesh. Let me explain a little more...Say yo...

Re: Custom fragment class

Don't use fragment, create your own subclass. The engine has code to clean up fragments and you will have a lot of trouble trying to stop it. You could consider using 'Pylon' as a base for an easy fix.

Re: Naming files in UT99

Also be sure there are no spaces in the path. It can happen with the steam installation IIRC.

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

@ Ferali: I understand your points and I agree almost across the board. I just come at it a little differently. Let me use an example...Does anyone remember anything about Community Map Pack 2? Lots of good maps you never played again. However the big standout from that was the XPickups mod which is...

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

I stopped by to see how things were going and how the voting was running. This won't be a popular opinion but if there is a next year you really need to shake up the format. Every year it's another winding, tight, well-done DM map that wins and no one ever sees it again after the contest is over. Wh...

Sorry dude, things are on autopilot at the moment. You're talking to a mailman in mid-December :omfg:

If you guys want I can set up the server Sunday with the contest entries? I just won't have time until then.

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

let's talk about performance... I've received negative feedback for the bad framerates due to high polycounts for basically any map I have ever released. conflicts with If all people tell me it runs like shit... Well, that's exactly what happened with AS-FoT-Chronoshift <snip> Thank god the beta te...

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

We are talking past each other I think. Let me simplify it and distill my concern down to a point... You say I know about this limitation and chose to build highpoly-maps regardless so does it really help at all for people to give negative feedback about this problem? It's an engine issue and beyond...

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

We've had those ever since the very first FoTs and even before those. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_tradition Traditions are often passed from generation to generation with no other explanation besides, “this is the way it has always been done”—which is not a reason, it is an absence of a...

Re: The AWESOME Mapping Contest

A late suggestion to the contest rules, specifically about feedback...I'm reading through the different feedback threads and there is a LOT of off-topic replying. There should be a concerted effort to focus replies on the entry itself and not about other things beyond the scope of the actual entry. ...

Re: DM-AMC-Modular [Final]

@Rev: 5 paragraphs of complaints then you say Now, reading my post again, I feel it might sound too negative... It shouldn't. :noidea Most of your feedback is engine related and beyond Krullor's control. You really would reply as a criticism that he fix a 20 year old engine so his map works the way ...

Re: BRUT/BRUTUS (Entry for the December contest)

Here's the combined source code for both mods Source Code You are free to do whatever you like with anything in there that I made. This was done with the idea that someone could easily make their own version the way they want to play it (like MH2 was). The source has many notes in it for the section...

Re: Damage per second

There's no replication of the new vars from server to client. Also isn't this
Code: Select all
    if ( NextHUDMutator != None )
        NextHUDMutator.PostRender(C);

supposed to be at the end of the function?

Re: BRUT/BRUTUS (Entry for the December contest)

I appreciate the feedback. To sum up a reply, this was never intended to be used as bot entertainment so there's for sure going to be problems if you play games without a human involved. In fact early versions had the game ending abruptly if all real players were eliminated but I felt like that was ...

Re: Certificate not up to date?

So for us non-web savvy people is this the beginning of the end? I mean the fact it's just not getting fixed and doesn't seem to be a priority is a bit disturbing. Lack of competition builds complacency I guess. I already see most of the discussion moving away from here and onto discord, a good hard...
