Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion

Anyone playing UT will not be able to play unless they have UT Gold, is why Chaos flopped. So if you use stuff from it, or play it, you NEED Chaos installed. Anyone not paying attention to what I said will talk B.S. Try the original Chaos maps for yourself in regular game modes and do not add the m...

Re: ChaosUT background and style

Yes, someone uploaded the final version 1.1 there. The UT200x versions introduced a few things, but the Invasion mode and melee are my favourite. Killing monsters with swords and crossbows is great fun. I think the larger maps of UT200x dilute the amount of Chaos happening as it may take a while to ...

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion

If you focus on gore you are going down the wrong path. Gore can be added in battle with a mutator. Scary/lonely/desolate/harsh/hostile/ These are more what you want to evoke. I mentioned for example a Dentist clinic as an example of a place that scares some people. A mini-mode map in a medieval den...

Re: The Arena - Mini SP Level with Serious Sam Action

Hmmm, It would have been preferable to necro-bump with the missing file, but as Creavion is no longer active I see the only option is to wake everyone in the thread. For future reference, when necro-bumping it is good manners to apologise for waking all the sleeping people. The original file name se...

Re: Extra Team Colors v1

If you look at the bottom of the " other download sites " list, you will see you can get it directly from the homepage. I have read somewhere in the past that BMP will keep the palette indexes the same, but saving as PCX will create a new index so colours may move. If you are doing nothing...

Re: Has the no-replies-to-old-posts rule changed?

Off-topic section. No necro-bumps Never necro-bump to say "I agree/disagree with post X" As with double-posting, context and requirement can outweigh the house rules. If it is your thread and you wish to continue the topic to add more related info, then that thread is the best place. If yo...

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion

To clarify; If you stick with the textures, decos and sounds, the maps will work without Chaos, and you will not have version conflicts. Chaos game play is either via game types, or by adding the mutator to other games you like (the Relics are very nice for MH and mix well with NW3 pickups) Using th...

ChaosUT background and style

Background: Chaos started on Quake 2 as a set of different weapons and various powerups, so when it was converted to UT the cyber-medieval theme was a common style to use. Many of the ported Quake 3 maps suit Chaos due to the heavy use of skulls and temple-like structures. Within the Chaos domain r...

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion

:wtf:  1) I wish I hadn't mentioned Halloween 2) Bugger me sideways !! (to use an old English phrase) This is unexpected after all the times I suggested it, and very welcome indeed. The Chaos devs will be very amused by this and may even try the maps. Papercoffee got my point, the Halloween id...

Re: This may be nothing...

Curious and thanks for saying.
Yes normally it should display the new posts since you last loaded the portal or visited the site.

Not sure what is going on here, or if it is changeable.
I will have a look.

Re: Mapping Contest Theme Discussion

My suggestion...... Chaos theme (as always) UT GOTY edition has resources that people are ignoring and never even look at, yet the majority of UT players have. What a waste of disc space. Every time I make the suggestion people make a big fuss about not wanting to use non-standard weapons, then igno...

Re: Contemplating installing v451

Weirdly today there has been a conversation in the oldunreal chat room about the UT 468 source possibly being available for use. I am not sure of the specifics but Smirftsch was talking about it as a thing that can happen. As for UEd2 in Steam, I stand corrected it seems but I wonder why some people...

Decorator for Chamberly

It has come to our attention that maybe we are overlooking one of our highly valued users as an Honoured member, and perhaps that is true, so.... Chamberly has been a busy community helper and facilitator here and at many other UT sites for quite a long time now. I know there are plenty of people he...

Re: This forum sucks

it is difficult for me and anything that has not already been said by others. This site is fairly self-regulating as there are plenty of members that talk good sense and give good advice. You don't like what you read here, but you also don't make great reading either :noidea It isn't even in the cor...

Re: I'm working on a layout for a forest map, I may need adv

There is a lot more plant and tree decos available, but if you want to keep it to commonly installed files, check the Chaos resources from CD2 and you will find a bunch of animated vegetation (moves when triggered). If you want other trees, inc. more animated stuff I can point you at useful distros....
