That zombi pack is possibly the worst zombie mod ever made. No animations, they just drift along or float in the air, and some shoot at you from big distances. ChaosUT has sword swinging action.
Chaos is a Q2 port, so official Chaos maps tend to be Quake style with extra skulls and horror.

Perhaps you could make the axe as a Chaos pickup.

I had to do the same thing for one of Js texture packs with 3 versions. In the end it made sense to just create a new one with everything.

BTW. The texture browser in UEd3 makes it a bit quicker to copy, delete and rename textures.

The ChaosUT sniper rifle is worth a look at. It is one of the few UT weapons with ammo you can hear travelling. You hear the zzzzzip of bullets as they miss you, or ricochet off a surface.

If you are going for a more real-world look, then consider how you aim it. The iron-sights should never be obscured.

the 4 sections could be chambers that hold the pickup (like adding bullets to a revolver)

Unless the reliable source was the author (.:..:), or host (Hyper), they may not be so reliable.
Either Author or host would also have pointed out that the packs are for Unreal, not UT.
The packs are sourced from http://www.hypercoop.tk/indexd.htm in the "Mods and game types" section.

Someone made a horse for Thievery. If you copy the few needed Thievery files it does work. I can't remember if you can ride it though.
