Re: How old were you when Unreal Tournament came out?

I was 10. At that time I didn't even know what a computer was, not even a gaming console. Only when I went to the electronic school (around 10th grade, so when I was around 16) was when I had my first real contact with a computer, and also where I was introduced to this game, and when I also made my...

Re: ==[ The 20th Anniversary Mapping Contest - 20AC ]==

The date was chosen so that by the time of the 20th anniversary all maps would be ready, it wasn't random (that's why the contest is called "20th Anniversary Mapping Contest"), so extending it would indeed be harmful in a way, since that means that by the time the anniversary comes, there's nothing ...

A cup holder.

For my drink while I'm editing maps.
This is quite easy to do... do you still have a CD/DVD drive in your PC?

Re: What feature do we want to see in UnrealED2?

- Fix align to wall. It sucks aligning the texture manually. A general "Align to X/Y/Z axis", all working in the same way as "Align to floor", would be perfect. Having that said, there's a simple trick to align wall textures perfectly: 1) Rotate the brush(es) you're working with so the walls are fa...

Re: GREAT MOMENTS IN UNREAL TOURNAMENT HISTORY!

Not sure if UT99 (General Discussions) or UT99 (Offtopic)...

I am not even sure what this topic is all about, it's far more random than the things you usually find in Offtopic.

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

Well, reported the problem here: https://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1571322829

Let's see if there's any solution, or planned fix for it at least.

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

To get UT maps to open in Unreal and Unreal maps in UT, you need to make sure both have the ported missing files. For example Unreal needs one of the ported Botpack.u See https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=5540 for a full description and links. There may be some hope left after all. Thank you! :...

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

It doesn't work for me: nope.png I stripped the map from pretty much everything but the basic common stuff: brushes and lights. And UEd2.1 still complains about the same. Since I was thinking in trying something else (a new simpler map for the contest or as bonus), which made me build today a simple...

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

What about you use the Unreal UEd2.2 ? You can link your UT install in the ini of the Editor. Could you elaborate a bit? As far as I know, UEd2.2 works fine BSP-wise, but once the map has already custom UT actors (I am using a custom package of my own) put into it and such built for UT, isn't that ...

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

Map officially canceled. Despite the rendering crashing, and getting near the node limit, I still had everything under control and plenty of workarounds to apply to make it work. But there are just hard limits that cannot be beaten, starting with the editor being a rather shitty piece of software a...

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

I am working on the tunnels now. Think you'll finish it in time for the mapping contest? I intend to, but not for the contest itself, as it's not eligible, but rather as a bonus map for the final pack. But right now it mostly depends on how much the editor will want to troll me in the process, and ...

Re: Unreal Tournament 469

What I understand is that they don't have permission to add new things, but only fixes and tweaks.. I think anth can shed some more light on this, but from at least what I understood, they can add new things, as long as 2 basic conditions are met: - they don't break network compatibility: in other ...

Re: CTF-Blice (WIP)

I am working on the tunnels now. And I am starting to get other kinds of crashes (similar to the previous ones due to lighting issues), but this time due to the sheer complexity of the BSP. But I have been able to get around them by simply building more stuff which end up modifying the BSP cuts enou...

Re: ==[ The 20th Anniversary Mapping Contest - 20AC ]==

if you just want to have a map in the map-pack as a bonus content take unfinished stuff or build or rebuild or what ever. I was talking about maps that have never been published but that could be completed and published, not about publishing unfinished maps. Your question is pretty much non-consequ...

Re: Unreal Tournament 469

6) A workaround to mismatches would be good; Of all the bug reports and feature suggestions here, I believe this is one of the most important ones. This issue alone plagues everyone, from mappers to modders to players to server admins, and it's always a pain in the ass to manage correctly and only ...
