Haven't mapped in awhile, but I'm thinking it would be a bitch to convincingly get a long mover like a subway car to make a convincing turn on an oval track.Aldebaran wrote:The trains could drive in a circle. Only an idea came up just now.

Re: Map ideas topic
Moving subways? You'd have to use portals if you want them moving continuously in one direction, right? Can you send a mover through a portal? Or did you plan on having a gap? That way, you could just drag the mover outside the map back to the starting position. What would happen if the player was s...

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
I really don't see a contest with SP going. Lego theme is also a weird: you're forcing the theme (which means pretty much all maps will look alike) and it's a theme which screams "CUBES". You know, that is a good plan, send out the texture packs and things, prepare so we all have them. Just go from...

Re: CTF-Entropy (did you guys miss me?^^)
Haven't had the time to play this one yet, but it looks fantastic, as usual. Blue base interior reminds me of Syrion a bit. Thanks for these continued, albeit delayed, releases

Re: CTF-MountainWindMills
It's a simple map, but it looks nice. Perfect for spammy online IG play. Since you know how to make terrain, you should consider submitting something to the mapping contest running here (there are only two or three entries so far). Your website is nice too, although I'm not sure about the legality o...

Nice progress. I'm not sure about that sheet issue, though. Try changing the brush order "to last"? Also, check for collision with other brushes. Vertex edit it so it's not touching anything and see what happens.

Re: Looking for CTF-SeasonOfPassage
OK here's CTF-FoT-Abandoned][ with all of it's packages (except readme, sorry). :) Thanks! CTF-FoT-Abandoned][ is a nice map, but not exactly FoT quality aesthetics-wise. the lighting is bland and some spaces are too wide open. I feel like it would play better as a low-grav map. The Lighting on CTF...

Re: Preview: DM(or CTF)-Cathedral
Welcome, and nice start on your map. I'd consider changing the map name, though. "Cathedral" is a little generic
There are plenty of resource databases available if you need more assets: http://www.ut-files.com/ is one of the best.
Always good to have another mapper in the ranks.

Re: concept; Woody Woodpecker Tourment
This is the craziest idea I've ever heard, man. The Wiki you linked was recently edited to include a bunch of info related to your nascent project here. What a bizarre passion you have. Best of luck getting this thing off the ground. The idea is too marginal in its appeal and this community is alrea...

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
CTF-ProjectX2 is fine, but is consisting only of 90° corners and 45° where polys are cutting. Also has a couple of invisible blocks around the center (inside the tree if I recall correctly). For its time an astounding map, though, and huge... could have used a little more playtesting, though. ;) Yo...

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
What did you think of CTF-Fallen, my terrain test of CTF two posts above? I think you should have posted a screenshot. It's fine as a concept test, but the map itself is unplayable, and you know it. Too many surfaces on your BSP. You're trying to make smooth, rolling hills, and it just won't work i...

Re: The Terrain Mapping Contest
The reality is that there's no quick way to generate terrain. These utilities (terraedit, polyed, nem's generator) are all a pain in the ass. I think the best way to create reliable terrain is by vertex editing tessellated cubes. Like here: http://i.imgur.com/0wI2qlb.jpg This is a SS from CTF-Projec...

Re: What makes Unreal Tournament 99 so great?
The simplicity of its design. Pure BSP, smooth movement, simple weapons. Because of its simplicity, It's much easier to create custom content for, too.
I've played UT2k4 and UT3 and the UT4 Beta, and they all feel so clunky compared to the original.
