Re: Mapping Contest: "UT99.org Xmas 2012 Mapping Contest"

I have a doubt on this one (and probably other mappers too), so what exactly you guys are defining "based on Epic product maps"? You mean we have to build something "similar" relative an existing Epic map? I think this map here is a good example. http://www.moddb.com/games/unreal-tournament/addons/...

That is one sexy banner. I'm in.
I think I'll submit something conforming to all the rules, then something else just for fun.

it will be announced soon, and that's :wtf:
Hope the deadline is bumped. Dec. 20th sounds reasonable.

Re: So what contest SHOULD it be?

If there's any contest, it would be seeing who can agree with one another first :ironic2: Because no one here seems to care about a prize or a theme, let's just make another collab map, then. We can do this rather quickly and it provides a sufficient challenge. I think there's more motivation with a...

Re: So what contest SHOULD it be?

While picking a theme allows for some different and creative entries, I think an open theme would generate the most entries.
That said, I think a Toy theme (pick a favorite toy from your childhood and incorporate it somehow in your map) would be a lot of fun.

Re: SNOW MAP CONTEST! [2012 - November]

If ASL doesn't want to revise this thing, I'll start a new contest thread and put forth details and prizes and the rest. Let me know. So far, I've only read 3 posts that confirmed willingness to participate. If I add myself, that makes 4. Rakiayn, it'd be awesome to get another map from you. FragnBr...

Re: SNOW MAP CONTEST! [2012 - November]

Revise the contest to feature LOW POLY maps and do away with the 1mb limit, and I'll put forth a prize.
Game of choice on Steam. ($25 or less) To be gifted on Christmas.
I reserve the right to withhold the prize if less than 5 maps are submitted :P

Re: SNOW MAP CONTEST! [2012 - November]

Poorly conceived contest. Arbitrary size limit is ridiculous. Just make the contest for Low Poly maps only. No judging? No prize? I'm willing to put up a prize if we receive enough quality entries. I''d move the package release closer to Christmas. Contest maps need a prefix (i.e. FoT or LP) to dist...

Re: Fun Map Contest

We all have different ideas and we all want to do different things. How about a "Whatever the Hell you Want" contest? Just stick the deadline at Christmas and we'll release it as a gift to the community. The only guideline is that you have to post it in "layout" form before decorating so that commun...

Re: Essentials for online play...

1) to save what I was downloading during the conection? 2) for less downloading? So basicly what files would be recomended when I finally jump into UT online? Also (a bit off-topic): what is cache? Is this the stuff I downloaded? 1. There's a utility called CacheCleaner out there somewhere. It conv...

Re: How do you place all together?

Don't rly know why, but for me at least, copy+pasting is usually a hit and miss deal. sometimes things get copied, other times they don't (or they get copied incorrectly) . maybe there are some things to consider, but i'd advise you to rebuild, transform and copy small bits of your map. copying man...

Very nice. Although the interior I think needs a little texture work.
Also the wheels look a little flimsy. :P
I'd love to see it lit and placed in an appropriate map/setting.

Re: Ruler/measurements

Also, when entering the size for a brush, you can place math operations in the height/breadth/width fields. For example, if I need a cube to be 32 units shorter than another brush that is 256 units high, you can enter =256-32 in the height field. What ...really? ...didn't know this. I used every ti...
