Shame they don't attack and rape the players (and bots) like the others in that mod tend to do.

Basically, plus the cybot sentinel just looks odd when the sprites are unnaturally split like that.

That's what you get for mixing mods that aren't supposed to ever be mixed in the first place.

They're from the latest EXU mod, they seem to mysteriously appear everywhere across the map when there's a devilbird flying around and as long as that devilbird is not gone, they will keep on spawning like crazy, literally dominating the place making it unable for any player or bot to survive even a...

The only option in UT99 by default is to radically disable/enable them, but I can't seem to find any mutator that reduces lifespan or caps the maximum amount of ut99's default decals in a match the way NW3's mod does with it's own decals? Shouldn't need a high DPI for UT. Even on a massive projector screen I'd set the resolution and DPI low. I'm throwing this out there as a possible cause of your mouse lag/screen tearing issue. I never had this issue on my own systems, but they all had wired infrared mice.

But it crashes even if you don't mod it, that's not a good example! Does UT99 corrupt itself only while you run it? What about copying the whole UnrealTournament folder (when it's still in a good state) to an external hard drive and keeping that as an emergency backup? Or maybe reinstalling the v43...

You could literally create a batch file that overwrites the core UT files every single evening and it will never affect your game, it will only prevent corrupted files from giving you issues. You are going to find that UT loves to throw weird errors that don't make sense and you'll chase your tail ...
