Retaining config values (.ini settings) when upgrading mods?

Is there an established method for retaining a mod's settings inside .ini files (both client- and server-side) when you are upgrading or renaming your mods? For example, let's say you are running a mod called MyCoolModv1, and you want to upgrade to MyCoolModv2. Before the upgrade, your .ini files mi...

NewNet and BT: list of bugs/issues discovered

Hello all Recently we've been trialling NewNet 0.9 on the BunnyTrack.net server. I am very impressed by the positive effect it has on lagginess/smoothness of movement, but unfortunately it appears to conflict with a number of features of BT maps and/or BT mods. Issues we've found are: • Lots of prob...

Anyone know Phanataz, the author of "Mapper's Dream" tool?

"Mapper's Dream" is an awesome tool which shows all the packages required for a map, like textures/music/sounds/etc. I found out about it from this thread: https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4220 Turns out it was made by someone called "Phanataz" who had a website and UT/programming forum which is...

Re: DoS attack?

This is a great example of why there needs to be a list of essential mods for modern UT servers. Years ago I asked on this very forum about "best practices" for setting up a server and didn't get any answers. Sorry Higor, this was not a helpful response : https://i.imgur.com/E85hJIS.png Someone (pro...

Re: DoS attack?

Same issue here. My log is a lot less verbose but it's the same exploit:

Code: Select all

Open MyLevel Sat Mar 17 23:35:07 2018 194.187.249.30:23625
Failed to load 'NULL': Can't resolve package name
Signal: SIGSEGV [segmentation fault]
@Barbie: how did you make your log more verbose, please?

Anyone got a better SetTimer() function for UScript?

Unless I'm misunderstanding it, UScript's SetTimer() function sucks. It can't take function names as arguments so everything has to be done in a class-wide function called "Timer()". Contrast this to most other languages which can set multiple timers for separate functions, for example JavaScript: s...

Re: How to get the numeric dimensions of a brush in UnrealEd

Yrex from oldunreal.com made his Unreal extension UT-compatible. So I guess this thread is solved!

Re: RabbitHole

Just a test mutator, I fixed the "resize()" function I created when I made CommandSystem, so now there are no any side effects anymore, I'm not sure if this can bring to new perspectives for new mapping and play styles: (At the beginning, I meant to type "You may be wondering") QuF3lFZ2mz0 This loo...

Re: How to get the numeric dimensions of a brush in UnrealEd

You should talk to yrex, he made this for U227: http://www.oldunreal.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1440262425/0#0 He's a great dude and I'm sure would consider making this for UT if it doesn't work there already. This sounds pretty much exactly like what I'm looking for, thank you. I'll contact him...

How to get the numeric dimensions of a brush in UnrealEd?

Is there somewhere in UnrealEd where you can see the numeric dimensions (width/height/depth) of the currently selected brush? Or a console command to access the brush dimensions? Example: https://i.imgur.com/Fje7Qdf.png Obviously this wouldn't be straightforward for complex brushes (polygons, terrai...

Re: Game type string

So the lessons here are:

1. Modders, don't develop a server browser that's case sensitive
2. Mappers, don't use improper capitalisation when you define your map's default gametype
3. Admins, always choose a default map which has the correctly-defined gametype string

Is that about right?

Re: XC_Engine [20] - XC_Core [7b] - XC_IpDrv

Just encountered a bug with XC_IPDrv where I was unable to download a compressed .unr.uz file from a redirect without encountering an "Assertion failed" error from UT.

Changing back to the default IPDrv solved the issue.

Re: Assertion failed: !Reader.AtEnd() when DLing from redire

Thanks to Chamberly, I found the source of the problem. It was XC_Engine's IP driver which I was using (client-side). When I changed back to the normal UT IPDrv, I am able to download the file normally. @Barbie, if you'd still like me to send you debugging info with XC_IPDrv enabled, please let me k...

Re: Assertion failed: !Reader.AtEnd() when DLing from redire

I'd like to check that, but I cannot open the map, because some needed packages are missing in the archive CTF-BT-CompilaPawel.zip . I got the missing files FreonDecos2Tex.utx and FreonDecos3Tex.utx , but wasn't able to find file FreonDecos1Tex.utx somewhere. Here it is: https://files.fm/u/qre4skqu...
