Re: Would it be possible to embed Webkit/Gecko DLLs in a UT

If exist an Evil Idiot which wants to mess clients he/she can do a random thing - even by getting out of "sand-box", see Java's stupid features which was creating a wide range of exploits at this point - TOO MUCH Power is harmful. Else, If you don't know the target on purpose how can you protect so...

Re: Would it be possible to embed Webkit/Gecko DLLs in a UT

Thanks. Do you know if a patch exists for the vulnerability anywhere? And if not, is anyone volunteering to make one?

Re: Would it be possible to embed Webkit/Gecko DLLs in a UT

There is a serious security exploit in the engine which allows servers to send any type of file to your client and even execute it without you knowing it. This is how NPLoader does it, but it prompts the client first. In respect for the community I am not gonna tell you how this is done, as of now ...

Re: Would it be possible to embed Webkit/Gecko DLLs in a UT

The problem is if you want it to work online, people would need to download the needed dll's, and not everyone wants to do it since they can have access to the system. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! The real problem for me is I work almost exclusively with high-level languages (C#) so wh...

Would it be possible to embed Webkit/Gecko DLLs in a UT mod?

Webkit and Gecko are the HTML/CSS rendering engines which browsers like Chrome and Firefox use to display web pages. Would it be possible to embed either of these rendering engines inside a UT mod, to either improve the existing UBrowserHTTPClient (which renders only the most basic HTML) and to allo...

Graphics stuttering issue related to netspeed (video inside)

I've been suffering from stuttering graphics when playing online in UT ever since I upgraded my PC and can't find a solution. It looks and feels a lot like what happens if you play with an uncapped high frame rate (like 300FPS+) but this issue is happening even though I'm using a frame rate limit an...

Debugging performance issues & memory usage on Linux server?

I run several game servers from a Linux (Red Hat) dedicated server with very good hardware - plenty of RAM, CPU cores, SSDs, etc. however occasionally players are experiencing issues, especially when the servers are quite busy (i.e. 8+ players at a time). My setup is fairly basic (no heavy mods exce...

Re: Old D3D renderer enables clients to "speedhack" on serve

Thank you both, but I'm looking for a solution which works on the server to stop clients abusing the timing issues.

The new D3Dv9/OpenGL renderers will fix the problem on the client but doesn't secure the server.

Old D3D renderer enables clients to "speedhack" on server

Hello all Recently it was demonstrated to me that clients using the older D3D renderer (with very high frame rates) effectively acts as a speedhack, enabling the player to either move faster and/or dodge more frequently during online play. I assume this is a known issue, and I'm guessing it's caused...

Is it possible to set an actor's mesh dynamically at spawn?

I'm attempting to make a UT script which will replace certain actors in a map with a new custom actor. The old actor is replaced using the standard ReplaceWith() function, and I am copying some of the old actor's properties over to the new actor such as DrawScale or Location (via MyNewActor.SetLocat...

Re: UT-FILES down. Population panics. Suicide rate increases

I can host all Bunnytrack (CTF-BT-*) related files at http://www.bunnytrack.net/ if someone has a way of getting them to me. EDIT: I've read through this entire thread and it explains everything fairly well. My only last question is: what's happened to all the data that was on UT-Files.com? Is it st...
