Finally took a look at SmartDM the other night and I've got some observations I'd like to share.
1st off, the scoreboard is very informative and for those that don't have a TalkTexture/Face in their setup it has a decent generic (hooded person) but I noticed it doesn't maintain a uniform default size...
...any skin or model that has a larger than normal one gets displayed larger than normal... can't imagine that's by design.
Oh, to clear up any confusion, while I go by EvilGrins in forums, in games I'm Doppleganger and I just happen to have EvilGrins as a bot.
Moving right along...
So I tested this out with bots, I've not been in an active playing mood for awhile, first in Last Man Standing and then with Deathmatch; still going to test it for other gametypes. This is version 8 of SmartDM, the most recent so far as I know.
Love this display, works very nice. Has lots more detail than what I usually get when I hit F2...
...but what qualifies as "Greatest Survivor" exactly? After about a dozen matches, that field never got filled.
I was obviously in Spectator Mode for this, but while it was still an LMS game I noticed that bit in the lower left corner...
...the "Lives: 0" is confusing. 1st thought it was for whatever player I was viewing from, but then thought it might be for me, and sure as a spectator I'd have 0 lives. Is that what it's for? Myself??
Would it be there if I had been playing? That seems odd as the normal HUD would already be displaying how many lives I had left.
SmartDM clearly displays for bots as well as human players, but apparently not for the UTDMW...
...Lord of War is an Unreal Tournament Deathmatch Warlord, essentially a bot that uses the Warlord's monster model. Despite he clearly won that game, why isn't he displayed on the scoreboard? UT's default scoreboard he shows up on.
One of the other things I want to test is how this operates under all gametypes. I know MonsterHunt won't work as it's set for all standard gametypes, but if it works on CTF might it not also work on CTF4?
I'll be back with more observations later.
