I have changed the user permissions to get more users in the community.

Guests: Attachments not available, Download list not available
Users, 0 posts: Attachments available, Download list not available
Users, >1 post: Attachments available, Download list available

So why this Decision?

Lot of people search in the internet for downloads. They come, they click, they download, they go away - without to have a look at the forums. Sometimes its pure laziness. With the new user permissions i want to animate the people to have a look at the forums, and maybe to stay here for a while. Maybe they find some interesting Threads, etc. Finally, they would be glad about these permissions.
That is the general idea.
And if someone really dont like this community, he has the chance to post easily in the Off-Topic forums and download his needs.

Good idea. I hope that will end this zero post user wave.

to be honest.. we all know how much it sucks if you search apps for a game youre not thaaaaaat into still you heard are nice enhancements, and then you finally find that shit youre lookin for and BAM you need to sign up -.-

Yeah, I hate it when I'm searching for something and when I find it I need to sign up.

UT99.org is no "only-download-page"! I want to animate the users to look in our forums and to write something...

Thats why i have decided to change the user permission.

I have to agree. Normally the members sign up for taking part in the community.

Maybe you should add a few mirrors to downloads or something so that non-members can download some major stuff.
And maybe this will start a 2 post spam wave.

I dont think so, they will rather post in Off-Topic in "What are you listening to?".

Yeah i think it's a good idea too. Went to check out the downloads page after my first post here and got the 'you must have 2+ post...' reply.

Should emphasis the community aspect rather than just 'download and run' behaviour.
