Lets make a community mappack

Post by TheCorey » Sun Mar 16, 2008 11:35 am

hey,
Since more then half of the community claims to be a mapper I thought it might be a good idea  to make a mappack. It could really draw even more attention to UT99.org and it should be fun aswell. At first I was thinking of a community map where everyone sends in a part of the map. But I suppose that wouldn't work as different people like different game types. So a mappack with different gametypes should be cool.

What do you think?

CTF Maps: 3
Assault Maps: 1 (+ 1)
Singleplayer Maps: 1
Monsterhunt Maps: 1
Total Map Count: 13 (+ 1)
Currently Featured Gametypes: Unreal-Singleplayer, DM/TDM, CTF, Domination, Assault, Monsterhunt

//edit (Shade, last Update - 01.04.08):

New rules: Before finishing the map, please post 1-2 (or more) screenshots here. So the community can give some tips or suggestions to make the map better.

Nowadays its not easy to make a map that doesnt go down in the ocean of thousands of maps. To make our Mappack successfull, we need unique and extravagant maps. Something special! I hope you know what i mean. ;)

Like Shadow says: "USE the time!"

A part of a map? And what about a "UT99.org Community United Single Player Map", where everybody would make a single part? (Teleporter could connect the mapparts) That wouldn`t be a big problem. Ok, the map could be a little bit mixed in the themes but whatever...

No no, that was my first idea but I don't think it would work if we all make one part of a map. Now you can just make some unreal-ish terrain in your own map

How about making simple mappack with , lets say, 5 maps? Mappers wont meet Ued limitations this way and will be free to make whatever they want.

I'm fine with that as long as there are not more then 5 mappers wanting to make a map for this. But I think there will be more the 5.

Count on me

I think that I am still a noob at mapping, still I will do my best :tu:

If you want to, then I will do a normal CTF and an AS (I never did an AS map, but I took a look in the other AS maps, and I think that I am capable to do it).
