Mappers are only listening if the community does...
The problem is simple: Most modder/mapper etc see no reason to map if there is nearly no community which reward their work.

And I admit I count myself to this group. Releasing something without getting feedback (the feeling that other care about that what you have done), is sooner or later depressingly. And when the modder and mapper abandon, the community overall is shrinking.

That's why we need a downloads+review section for maps and mods here, to give mappers a place where to submit their work and give feedback to each other.

Any updates on the battle plan, Shade?

At the end it simply sucks that Nalicity is gone! (from what I heared bu failed to make backups over years of their forum databank)

On another side, with Shade here, this is the perfect opportunity to do something better than NaliCity I think. Just my 2 cents

Do it for us here at UT99 then. Field of Dreams. If the work is good, it'll get noticed by the community. Look..I'm certaim that Shade has a good plan. I mean look at what he's done with this forum...

Didn't I tell you didn't WE tell you how much I we loved Kamah? Isn't the UTR pack from this site the greatest thing since scrambled eggs? (after the patch btw, everything runs perfek). ...reviews..bah!..my Chris Tucker voicepack for UT99 is released now 5 years, with 350+ d/ls and guess how many reviews? That's right. None. Zippo. Don't talk to me about reviews....

My kids all play UT. Some of their friends do now. My neighbor who is even older than me (really!) plays now all the time. UT is simply special, and we all know it that's why we're here. :)

Let me say this in this way: On unrealsp.org I also have the one or other "fan", in total I have there maybe 3 or 4. From the rest I did not (nearly) get ANY feedback after my last map release there (and I was not suprised at all to get feedback by those guys at all). Do you understand now what I mean? Certain modder and mapper have "always" their small base-fan community left.

I don't have a Fanbase ...some people like what I do but I wouldn't call it a Fanbase.
The Maps are for myself. I have fun to build them ...and if I think they are good enough, I upload them to the community.

On map-factory:
GangWar-Kairo ______729 downloads 4 comments
GangWar-Rocketfight_468 downloads 1 comment
On fpsbanana:
GangWar-Kairo ______115 downloads 6 comments
GangWar-Rocketfight__32 downloads 5 comments

The community don't talk too much ...but hell yes! 1344 people have download my maps, THIS is for me a good reply!!
And if even only a fistful like it and play it, I am happy.

My 2 Euro-cent to this topic

(I don't know if I made clear what I wanna say with my post.) :|

Maybe with some ads on the page here, we could have 2 or 3 own gameservers =)?

 you mean,UT99 gets his own server? thats cool, and maybe community shrinks, but hey: i didnt expect a game more then 10 years old to have more then 1mill players, and somehow i think. some will come back when community projects getting released (talking about SDK,RD,TCO,Xenome etc)
btw: if ut99 gets his own server, than what could we expect? Dm,CTF,Co-op?

I just got some information concerning prices of UT99 servers and i decided to get one own very soon :D

I don't know yet if i will get a full public server but if not i will share the password here.

So UT99.org will have at least 2 servers now :-p
