I feel you on that. that's why i didn't make a portal page for my site and other additional mods. Such a pain when upgrade time comes. Then you have to sift through hundreds of lines of code to correct issues :(

but this forum needs those addons ;) so keep up the good work. Any help I can provide and I'm sure others would as well. Just let us know!

Wow! A real UT site...Yippiiii !!!!

I agree with some of the other posters, dont try to take all this on urself, let the community pitch in as a group and help keep things going smoothly. It seems you have some talented people here, as well as a lot of enthusiasm, and very importantly, some offers to help with all the financials :)

One thing DEFINATELY we ALL need to do now, is to collect/save all our favorite maps before all the big websites are gone forever. As long as we have a common portal in the future, we can always find a way to share them with eachother...as well as introduce new maps into the mix.

I just found my old UT 99 disks last week and loaded them on all my computers...I forgot how much fun I was missing.
Theres a lot of new technology out there, but nothing can take away from the playability of the original UT, or from UT's sheer fun factor.

I was big time in the community way back when,...I had one of the original "Custom Maps" servers, "Gaussians Guild" (dont know if any of you guys remember it)
I had it up and running for 4 years, along with a supporting webpage and re-direct downloads...sigh! I miss the good ol days.

Life took me from gaming...got promoted into management, got married, etc...but all thats over now...the economy took my job...the neighbor took my wife, lol :loool: ...all I got left is these 2 CD's with the UT logo on it, haha.
Anyway, Im back, and I will give back to the community as much as I can. I am testing a server now, just trying to get settled on some of the latest custom maps to run. I'll have a dedicated high speed server up in the southest US (florida) very soon. When I left 4.36 nodelta was the standard...I upgraded now to 4.51b, but I am getting some weird problems with gameplay on client connections that I'm trying to figure out, I think it might be related to skins compatability or something...may some of you all have seen my issues and can help me get things running smoothly. I already figured out the UnrealEd doesnt run on 4.51, grrr...lol.

I'll be looking for a place to put all my compressed redirect maps, packages, etc, soon...does anyone have a good recommendation? :help:

Looking forward to meeting some of you out there in UT land, but please take it easy on me...you guys have been playing for 10 yrs...I'm just coming off a 6 year break, haha.

Frag ya later,
Gaussian "G"

I'll give it a shot - but I'll need to know some specifics about your server problems.
I gather that it is a Home Based server?
Did you try your server at the UT vers. 436 level?
Or did you patch it all right away to 451b?

Gaussian, btw, it is Just Fine by me that you are still back 6 years ago!
I like the good old days of UT better myself!
