Statement to the current connection problems

Dear community,

UT99.org is having connection problems for several weeks now. I want to let you know that I am still trying to solve it.

I am very proud of what UT99.org has become over the years, of how much knowledge and continuing effort is lying in this community. Therefore I am very sad about the current situation, believe me.
I am sorry for the inconvenience and looking forward to happier times. UT99.org stays up.

Regards,
Shade

I already wondered why it's lagging and often giving "500 Connection Time-Out" errors.
I was already blaming the shitty internetz haha.
Thanks for the heads up :-)

Thing that was really buggy about the forum's issues was the message it often put on the screen.

Just before the 500 error thingy it read: "Contact your server administrator [address not shown]".

Was toying with calling a psychic to reach Shade on the astral plane. 1 more week of downtime and I would've

I keep getting logged out every few minutes, so I wonder what is going on with the cookies.
As it seems most problematic while being logged-in I have no way to test some of what is going on.

Yslow shows a load of cookie related problems but I don't think they are the problem. It does reveal a bunch of other errors worth investigating.

Everything is loading super snappy now! I could tell a major difference before I even saw this thread. :gj:

As verticube said, the problem is finally solved! :)

There was a project some time ago, a UT99 wiki, which came to nothing at the end. So it seems like the software degenerated to a playground for happy robots, which pushed the server performance down. I just lost sight of the wiki... lesson learned.

:highfive:
....So it was sort of a database related problem in the end.
We have a few bet-winners! Shame nobody started a book of odds.

OK. but...... where ?
If the site breaks, it shows a useless email address, and none of the admin use the official IRC.
Even when we the users, can communicate with Gen or Paper, we cannot actually count on them receiving a reply, leaving them in a awkward position.
You expect that run-around trying to deal with Epic, but not a small community site.

That is the most important fix I would like to see
So the next official post in the announcements section I want to see, is the announcement that the contact details are fixed.
