Epic Masterserver status

You heard it here first people (unless you visit Oldunreal).
:rock: The Epic masterserver is now functional again

You should have received the info at some point from GameSpy, and already have it in your config.
Hopefully as this is the standard master address, you should all be using it already.
In the event you are missing this info, check your UnrealTournament.ini and look for;
(n=number)

Code: Select all

[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com MasterServerPort=27900

[UBrowserAll]
ListFactories[n]=UBrowser.UBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut
If you use Xbrowser then open the "Xbrowser.ini" and make sure this line is present;

Code: Select all

[XBrowserAll]
ListFactories[n]=XBrowser.XBrowserGSpyFact,MasterServerAddress=utmaster.epicgames.com,MasterServerTCPPort=28900,Region=0,GameName=ut
The server uplink for Xbrowser is a separate file with it's own ini file. I will have to have a look at that then update this post.

I knew Epic they were planning something, I knew they would not let us down! They might have taken decisions we don't agree with concerning their newer games, but if there's one thing they know, it's how to treat your gamers, and they never disappoint in this regard, hurray for Epic! Long Live UT, all Unreal games are safe once again for years to come!

billybill wrote:OK it's up, to query from? As in it looks to me like I can get the list faster than if it were only gamespy.

My list shows 639 servers, that's a lot but it's the lowest I've ever seen. Is that file of master servers from Epic being sent and not including the servers that are uplinked to gamespy only? [My UnrealTournament.log file does have a lot of failed port binds, and my computer has been on longer than normal]. UnrealTournament.log file doesn't appear to check gamespy at all? Did it always only query the first server that responds? Or did Epic modify the default servers? I'll wait for someone else to confirm this

Oh, that doesn't look too good, but maybe that is why they didn't announce it yet, and they are going through a test phase.
It seems to be the same masterserver they are (or were) using at Oldunreal.
if it is different from GS, it must be collecting its own heartbeats, and it is likely that some people must not have it in their configs.
Possibly Steam users, or people that have removed it because it did not work ?

I was wondering if there was a disparity between GS and Epic, so if a few people can also try, and remember to set it as the only downlink, and lock the config from updating if it fails, or it will add the GS back in.
[UBrowser.UBrowserMainClientWindow]
bKeepMasterServer=True

Not sure how accurate this page is http://bobzent.info/gsstatusget.php?game=ut but it will be only GS uplinks

billybill wrote:About that let other people test thing I said. I was running UT432. Any server that has min client version as 436 or whatever won't show. I'll keep an eye on the new server. If unreal.epicgames.com supports both games maybe they should switch it back on. You're saying the steam version uses this? And the unreal game. There's a line in the UT uplink that changes any uplink heartbeat to that address to contain the extra info that it's UT and not unreal

Thank you for posting this, I was thinking about trying to contact someone by telephone over there in the next few days to see if I could find out what was going on. Very glad to receive this news, and grateful to EPIC for keeping things going.

Are you sure you want to thank Epic at this point? I mean ... it looks like you now have to endure my presence for a while longer gna gna :mrgreen:

EDIT: I went and paid my respect here : https://forums.epicgames.com/threads/98 ... st31822011

This topic also shows my results from quering the master server at Epic as only option.
