Looking for an obscure file, found it.

Do you search a certain mutator, mod, skin, map, everything else?

Looking for an obscure file, found it.

Post by JackGriffin »

Guys I ran an Unreal coop server. Can you check your caches and see if somehow you might have either of these two files:
GoCoopDev7.u
or
GoCoopDev8.u

Also if I ever shared my coop server files with you could you let me know? I'll be honest in that the chemo just torched my memory. I know I sent them to some people but I simply cannot recall whom it was. I'd like to maybe get my coop server back running but I'm missing a lot.

Thanks all!

Kel

Only thing I can offer you is goCoop.u, but you are probably not looking for that ... :|

Nah, that was my original stab at a coop controller. The dev6-7-8 series was way more advanced but it's a very niche audience that plays. I guess 3 is gone now, I don't see his server and no reply to an email. I can't remember anyone else specifically joining as I was trying to develop this (grrr). I'm going to meet Loathsome later in chat and try him. I posted this to OldUnreal but no one had it there either. I had thought I'd found a copy that was uz'ed but when I decompressed it, it was corrupt and missing some things.

I appreciate the look and try SB. I'll give this a couple more days trying then I might just abandon it all. I lost too much to redo without those files.

Those names look vaguely familiar.
Could they have been stuff you worked on a few years ago when you were working on survival?
When I get home from work, I'll have a look at my many saved caches.

As usual i'm at work so I can't do an extensive search, but i skimmed the other forums on the ol' Active list, which is on this forum, looking for your posts on your coop server.

I tried google but that didn't help much.

You've got a few threads on UnrealSp.org where you discussed it, over a couple years. Is there any chance these files might be in a download linked to one of those?

I'd also recommend, as your coop server seemed more Unreal than UT based, even if it did play under ut99, OldUnreal or any other forums that are more geared towards Unreal1 stuff.

Best I can suggest from here.

I tried the old haunts that were geared to Unreal but most of the players all quit over the past year. 3 had the files for sure but after that I just can't remember who I was playing with (it wasn't very busy). Delacroix maybe was one? It's just all fuzzy for me now. I'm even looking at code I did on it and it's like looking at someone else's work.

I never posted the files anywhere but I know I sent the source several places. I just can't recall where. Fucking old age. -BLAM- Headshot!

I thought I saved everything I ever played or looked at.
Just didn't save these.
Sorry, mate.

You might never have played it, it was from an Unreal coop server.

Update: Big thanks to Loathsome! We chatted for a while and at his suggestion I scoured my old outgoing mail via hotmail's search function. I had totally forgotten that I sent the source code of this mod to Nelsona to use so I was able to get it. I'll just recompile it all and get it that way.

Thank all of you guys so much for looking. NSA or not, I'm going to start using an off-site backup service so this won't happen again. Lesson learned.
