Many people are still not aware about double posts, and what exactly it is.
This little guide should help those poor clueless people.

This is a double or triple post: It can contain even more posts in a row.

evil papercoffee wrote: I made a double post lol ...you can't do anything against it

evil papercoffee wrote:OH NO I MADE A TRIPLE POST ...or would you say Multipost lol.

This is NOT a double post:

papercoffee wrote:Hi folks what's up? I'm still here and love UT.
24 hours later.
papercoffee wrote:Oh I forgot to say "Hi" to all old farts I know here on this forum.
Hi old farts ...
This is also NOT a double post: It's called a conversation!
Spoiler
evil papercoffee wrote:Everyone who loves UT is GAY!!!11!111 lol ...losers!
10 minutes later.
papercoffee wrote:You know that "gay" means actually "cheerful" or "happy" ?
2 hour later.
evil papercoffee wrote:Well ...I ... :? Fuck yourself!
4 hours later.
papercoffee wrote:Na ...I don't want to have sex with you.
20 hours later.
evil papercoffee wrote:Take your medicine you schizo!! Ugh ...I go leave this forum, full of old man!
24 hours later.
evil papercoffee wrote:Oh Noooz ...I made another double post!!! hahahahaha lol.
15 minutes later.
papercoffee wrote:No, you didn't.
Do you see the difference?
Double posts are annoying and a no-no and should be avoided.
The exception is a tutorial thread with a huge buttload of content (pictures and text plus links).

I hope this clears everything up now.
If someone still asks what a "double post" supposed to be ...link him to this little guide.

So... what happens if you "accidentally" make a quadruple-post, which would be 2 double-posts on top of each other?
Does the combination of 4 posts, back to back, negate the dual double-post??

What about editing your post? Won't that solve most of the double-posting issue or am I missing on something here?

You are correct. Editing is exactly what the admins are asking of us, unless one is having a back and forth discussion with others. If you were the last poster in a thread and want to say more, edit, regardless of the time passed.

AFAIK, 'bumping' and 'necro-bumping' are also frowned upon unless one is adding important information or updating a thread that has some worth in being resurrected. Adding "me too" to a thread that has slipped far down the page is bad manners.

Forum etiquette is typically pretty straightforward, but there is some subtlety to be observed as well. Multi-page threads (eg; "Funny Pictures") can usually be bumped, but these threads usually reside in 'off-topic', where the rules become somewhat more elastic.

Hmm , it would seem that perhaps the RULES themselves need to be Re-Evaluated IMHO.
because this problem with DOUBLE POSTING aint ever going to go away.

and being some sort of 'Society' I am wondering if we are of a 'Democratic Society?' ,
if so then perhaps have a POLL / VOTE and either ENFORCE it (punishable by public abuse) or BOOT IT (for good)

:tu:

... just because I can .
