Anyone play Sniper Arena?

I love UT99 to this day, it's easily the Best Game Ever made. I am located in the EU, and I was playing Sniper Arena CTF and TDM exclusively from 2006 to 2010. I was a regular on the TR server and on the BSC server, but they were sadly shut down around 2010.

Is there an active saCTF/saTDM server I can play on? Or do you know of any communities I could join?

I play SniperArena very rarely, especially online... because... well...

Typically I'm the guy you see running around who gets his head blown off every 3 seconds.

I have just one question: why doesn't this server show up in the server browser? I have never seen these servers in the view "populated servers", where I hoped to find a sniper server that has people playing on it...

I don't know how TsF server is setup (I can ask to Black) but ISC sniper server is actually advertised on epic games and 333networks masterservers

Yesterday at 21:00 CET I joined both servers you mentioned, and waited a few minutes, but no one else was up... I'll keep trying whenever I have time to play UT99.

So this is why I never find these in my server browser: they are not populated

well, yesterday I played till 9pm EU time with other 2 italian guys on ISC server anyway these 2 servers aren't much populated, you can easily notice it by checking their position on GameTracker
truly, "populated" sniper arena DM/CTF servers don't exist anymore in ut99, sorry for this but nowadays only a few servers are populated all the time and saCTF/saDM aren't the most common mods in the community
it's better you add these 2 servers (and others) in your favourites list and check them when you want to play but don't expect to see many people there

The best way to populate an empty server, is to join it and wait for somebody else to show up.

If the server admin is on the ball he would have it configured for at least 1 bot on there for you to
play against until a real player shows up.

Why don't more admins do that? Set the thing so bots join for min of 2 players.
Even if you don't want bots on the server, set the damn thing for at least 1.
That way players who might be waiting for other players won't fall asleep.

If you do it right, the bot will leave as soon as the 2nd player joins.

what you say is pretty obvious but admins have their own politics about server managing and bots on servers, moreover many clans are more interested in using servers for themselves or for their clan matches (rumbles or competitive gameplay) than setting up servers, with one or more bots, in order to get them populated.
ut99 is still alive but community is more and more smaller and some mods are not so popular. iCTF, for example, is surely more played than saCTF and, generally speaking, CTF is more appreciated than sniper arena or xloc practise/arena. So, imho, the main problem is the lack of players, not the number of bots on a server. If people don't play, adding or removing bots on a server won't have any effects anyway
