I could use some work on making a space/void map, so my vote is on space/void map!

I like this one. Something in a crypt or an asylum w/ lightning would be neat for halloween.

Also dig this: A spaceship map w/ indoor and outdoor bits like dm-hyperblast.
The Jedi Knight II textures are available, and I've only seen two or three maps that make use of them.

I also posted the Nerf Arena Blast textures here awhile back. Something in a brightly colored arena (using strong primary colors) would be cool too.

I would love to join. Except my map will be all cubes and basic shapes joined together.
I haven't progressed to making proper maps yet :(

If you have a good idea  and know where what texture should go, sometimes basic shapes are enough to make a good map :tu:

Very true. Although I really need to learn more advanced techniques and how to make more pretty maps :)
Thanks for the kind words :)

bumped this topic to test the bump button.
WTF? I have never seen/used this.

But the question could be very relevant?
It's already end of August ... do you want one? And if you want, do you have ideas how we can avoid the clunkiness of the two last ones.

I say no packages restriction.
But we should maybe take a game-type restriction.

Seeing that poll again, 2nd place was wacky theme, thoughts on that?

Personally I'm ok with anything. :D

I don't like the theme idea, it would be best to just make a map pack with a byte limit of 10 meg, maybe 15 meg max for all files per map.
And it can be an old map that you didn't release or still want to finish. Ya gotta remember there is a reason you didn't want to finish it so it's still a lot of work.

So no contest but a map-pack?

I have an idea for a mapping contest theme.

What's about when all mappers are only allowed to use some pre selected textures to create their maps.

This will generate a map pack which uses exactly the same texture theme but the outcome can be very very different depending on how the mappers use the textures.

Texture must be default ones ...or else we have a similar situation when we had the Chaos decos.

Well we can still vote.

And stock textures isn't a good idea , if the map don't work, tough luck, disqualified.
Even though I had the same problem with my maze map

But whom ever makes the pack should be the tester using a stock install.
