If 2 player with equal skill, first have 40ping and second have 80ping, how much first player have advantage above second?
ps after ut2k4 and ut3 in which i have comfort play with ~100 ping, in ut99 i completely feel uncomfort gameplay with ping 80-100

UT99's gameplay is electic even compared to the other failures of UT's franchise, of course anything over 50 ping makes it less confortable.
During my experiments with LCWeapons, I found out that you can do UT4 styled prediction of up to 30-40ms without making things look too weird.
Now, for someone that plays with 200ms ping, making it look like you're playing with 160ms is a big difference... imagine how it looks like if you're altering your perception from 80ms to 40ms.
This prediction thing I'm talking about is simply making things look like they're 40ms ahead in time, reducing the amount of perceived latency on a client.
I made a little standalone tool that injects LCWeapons' prediction into your client (as a test before i fully implemented it into LCWeapons) and it's worked wonders, although it could be considered borderline cheating as you're loading a tool that modifies apparent positions of objects.
The amount of prediction can be tweaked but anything above 70ms looks too weird as player movement is extremely hard to predict, you do get to dodge stuff fired at you far easier.
PD: Playing with prediction as a <100ms player is a far superior experience than newnet outside of instagib and sniper arena, as you are positive you won't be killed by unavoidable projectiles.

There's also Zero Ping (usually abbreviated to 'ZP' - ZeroPing servers are generally prefixed with 'zp|' in the server browser), a much earlier modification that has similar ambitions.

Why do servers not all use some compenstation or some net enhancement? Well, it's all down to the server admin's decision of what they want on the server. There are plenty out there that doesn't stop by here enough to see more releases.

I've often been amused that the UTDMT show up on menu's as human players (despite being large bots that throw rocks) and have their own ping listed.
Generally their ping is better than mine, which is kinda annoying.

Don't count on me at NewNet, I was playing games at 180 with no issues. Else NewNet Were you saying ? I wiped out errors in my server and now I need these ?
Excuse me but this utter trash for me means nothing more that a sh!t floating over sea. "ScriptWarning" seems nothing that bad at some coders, it's a sort of never-mind thing. I got 500 kb error log in less than 2 minutes in client, and then server is not clean at all. WTF are these !?
If you don't feel comfortable at 160 ms Ping - do not play there, NewNet doesn't help in preventing effects based on real network latency and real lags.

Nvm, I found, because I was pointed there, another version (still with errors but looks better somehow). Else that 0_4 was "installed" in a sever having a super duper "quality" link posted somewhere as a good stuff . I'm checking a newer version right now...

tried newnet and LC weapons.. always end up going back to zp103 which is the best to this day imo.

A "normal" network configuration of Windows is not ideal for gaming, so ping will vary

If you want something that will do the optimising for you, you can try cFosSpeed free for a month.
I recommend cFosSpeed because it will dynamically adapt for the current network speed/quality. This keeps your ping at a more regular speed.
