OpenGL too dark with AMD Radeon

Post by abc »

This is an old question but expected it to be solved by now. Using the latest AMD Radeon drivers and utglr36, the game still looks unplayably dark. Changing GammaOffset does nothing. The brightness slider does nothing. Not really looking to use third party program like Gamma Panel. D3D9 works great, but looking to experiment with alternatives. Any suggestions?

Edit to remove double post:

Half the problem was a program called f.lux, which apparently has to be closed with OpenGL but not D3D9. The other half seems to be with ATI:

Numerous versions of ATI's drivers up to and including the current version 5.8 have issues that may affect gamma correction for UT in OpenGL mode, and various other games and applications. This isn't anything I can fix. If gamma correction doesn't work, try moving the in game gamma slider back and forth as this will sometimes fix it.

Moving the slider or taking a screenshot corrects the gamma problem but needing to do this every time UT is run seems like a hassle. Figured twelve years later there would be a solution by now.

Well in the past i did had also a amd videocard but i never did try the opengl drivers.
Within ut99 you must press f11 button on your keyboard.
i hope for you that those drivers are also uptimized for amd vidcards.
But i think it shouldnt be a problem running them also, its a strange verdict that those opengl drivers are only optimized for nvidia videocards only.
You can edit ut99 unrealtournament.ini and set the gamma corrections to the max.
otherwise use this guide:or press f11 a couple of time within ut99:

viewtopic.php?t=373
edit opengl settings:

hope this helps.

Flux will still affect the colour temperature of your screen even in D3D renderers, but it does seem to also affect the brightness in OpenGL.

Have you tried adjusting the GammaOffset value via the renderer settings (type "preferences" in your console)?

Remember gamma and brightness are two separate things. Gamma offset cannot be adjusted via the in-game settings menu.

Finally, try the D3Dv10 renderer: http://bunnytrack.net/index.php?page=tips
