I play a lot of PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds now with Sp00ney's group, mostly duo and squad. Right now the community is on fire about this renderer add-on:
https://reshade.me/
What it does is add post processing to your game but it's done in a way that lets you have intense, granular control of the effects. Think of it like sliders on an equalizer but used for visuals. It can make your game look really incredible if you take the time to set up the effects. Be warned that the installation and setup are involved and you'll take some time to get it properly configured for what you want to see. There are a lot of demo vids on YT on how to set this up. If you really are keen on visuals it's worth your time to play around with.
Word of warning: my AV kicked off when trying to install. It's a common thing because it hooks into your renderer but the code is open source. It's safe. I'm sure this would work with UT but I don't have it installed to check. I can tell you though that PUBG looks like a totally different game to me now. It's worth a few frames of hit to get the effects.
Hope everyone is having a good summer. Hit me up if play PUBG, I enjoy squad play with people, especially old UT'ers because they tend to shoot very well.

yeah i did try ut99 did not startup properly.
And reinstalled ut 99 again, i think its only optimized for more modern games and not a old one like ut99.
sadly it does not run properly.

Check the Games tab on the site:
But I am not sure if this is the retail OpenGL, or Chris' one, so the limitation might only be referring to the retail one.
Having that said, I think I have already seen this applied to UT several years ago. People generally call it SweetFX instead, and a quick Google search seems to indicate that SweetFX is the preset and ReShade is the actual engine that it's used on, so it should work without issues.
There are even videos in Youtube about it iirc.
In other words, besides the requirement for Windows Vista at the very least, you will probably get better results with OpenGL.Unreal Tournament GOTY OpenGL Good No depth buffer access.
