Frankly, there are so many original maps that blew my mind...Morpheus, Deck16, Liandri, Phobos...all of them were quite impressive.
Yeah, Peak and Phobos also left a big impression on me.
Peak was one of the most played maps after Morpheus when I played it with friends.

The game map that got me most hooked was DM-Morpheus.
Unlike other maps it mixes normal and low gravity for a very unique experience.
It plays very well for all mixes from 1 on 1, to team games where the layout quickly encourages people to "buddy-up".
As already noted it also plays/feels bigger than it really is.

From a playing and mapping point of view, Morpheus really shines.

As soon as I saw Facing Worlds map, I was hooked. It looked so epic with the Earth below the map and the Moon in the distance. It used to send shivers down my spine just running across those two bridges. I still love that map.

First time I played UT99 (a demo version that was included on a PCGamer magazine's CD) I got totally hooked by DM-Turbine, I just couldn't believe the awesome gameplay and the beautiful graphics, I loved this map because I thought it was incredibly fun and fast-paced. I remember I had to play the demo @800*600/medium settings, it was the most I could get of the graphics card I had back then (NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64)
BTW, I think I still have that old CD somewhere around :D

Ive recently trashed and rebuilt one of my servers to have only classic DM and CTF maps in respective map vote columns.
Had quite a blast playing all of them again and had forgot a few of them existed!

Anyone else feels this affection to those maps?
Although I didn't play CTF-Orbital that much, it has been the first map I have seen the gameplay of in 2005, I remember things falling from the ceiling and a big explosion so something wasnt standard in that gameplay.

For me, it was DM-Phobos.

There was just something about that map, maybe it was the amazing skybox, the sheer abundance of powerups (this was one of the few maps that had Invisibility) or the awesome soundtrack (Thanks, Michiel Van Den Bos!). Also the fact that it was the first map I ever played.
