UT99.org | Unreal Tournament Community

Recently a player could not join my v451 UT server (Linux), because his UT says "Can't find Palette in file 'Palette Botpack.Palette633'". A quick web search indicates that this problem can ocour with a pre 436 UT version? Or what else can cause that error?

Is botpack.u (or related files like .int etc ...) from the pre-version different then the latest 436 version? I just checked mine:

It boils down to have a different Botpack file I would guess.
So yeah, different versions or corrupted files (which is possible) can lead to stuff like that.

Mine is in red.

What UT version do you have - the file size shown the image on the left is the size of Botpack.u in 436 and 451b, so you must have something different?

The solution seems simple to me once the cause is clear.
Get another (valid) botpack.u by buying the game of gog.com

Thanks Deepu. I have the store bought cd's. I'll just do a reinstall and see what happens. I appreciate the help though.

We are more or less the official forum for Unreal Tournament. Therefore we can't allow links to downloads of the official full game.
Link the demo and the 436 patch and everything is ok.

Refrain from posting download links to the full game.

Full UT game for free = illegal, because Epic is still selling the game. And Epic is represented through Flak in our forum. And we don't allow it.

UT Demo + NoDelta patch 436 = not illegal, because Epic screwed this up (or it was intentional) but you won't get the full game with that. You'll have to go online and download the missing content from a gameserver.

What you do on your forum is your own business.

But isn't it not okay for him to link to his forum too, given those predicates? It's just redirecting the illegally-intentioned traffic through an extra hoop. If his website gets DMCA'd we don't want to get drawn along into the American Abyss. I don't like DMCA, but I'll still play by the rules. I won't rat out on this, though. And not because of personal preferences; I'm not an asshole.

What he is doing on his website is nothing of our business.
Linking to the portal page is alright.
