I am not really a mapper right now (even if I could already create a very simple map with some weapons placed in it - thanx go to Smeer Kat's youtube tutorial) but I had some thoughts too. Perhaps a special contest for the 20th anniversairy would be a good thing, the mission could refer to the year 1999, some kind of maps we all want to set up on our servers to celebrate the birthday.

We will start the Mapping Contest first of October till 10th of December.
The theme this time is "Awesome".

Yes, make an awesome map!
Try your best! Make it the best looking and playable map... or come up with an unusual idea never seen in any map pack before.

Game type is free, if it's some really exotic one provide a link where people can download it.
No restrictions on space, only on file size, 75MB.
Any package can be used only exotic packs must be included in the final submission.
Bot pathing is mandatory.
And I create a badge which must be included somewhere visible in the map.

We'll announce it officially in a separate thread. But for now, spread the word ... UT99.org is having a contest again.

[dealer voice] Swanky, Swanky, Swankyyyy ...what's the problem, maaan? [/dealer voice]

That badge is like the Steiff "button in ear" ...our trademark or signature.
You can put that badge on a monitor screen or postage stamp. As long as it's there. :noidea

Hey, worst case just put it like in a LavaZone behind a wall or... like in a corner of the map screenshot or just use it as a button texture? Its VISIBLE, right? :noidea

I doubt I'll be in, my UnrealEditor automatically sets bHidden to False to any actor in the map randomly, I'm tired of setting it to True to any actor everytime.

@PrinceOfFunky
there is an unofficial Unreal Editor 2.1: Extended Standalone Edition, compiled by a user at the HoF forum
UnrealEditorv21Setup.exe (291MB) http://ut-files.com/index.php?dir=UEditor_Developing/

Try that for a clean editing setup.
If you add your existing UT folders to its config you will not have to duplicate any custom resources in your game folder.

Probably you guys should work in a more official announcement and properly spread it throughout all communities to spread awareness?

Otherwise, mappers scattered around won't really know there's a contest, and will miss out and be sad later on, just like it happened last year...
