UT99 With a PS3 Controller?

Post by Shoulon »

Recently I've been wanting to play UT with a PS3 Controller, I got the drivers ( using all those tuts/guides out there...There all the same.)
Basically everything works except the Right Analog Stick, To look around and aim.

Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

I did this once and it involved tweaking an ini file. I'll post later with some details on how to do this.

OK I think I did this right (not on my normal PC). What your going to want to do is open up your user ini in your UnrealTournament system folder and look for the line that reads joy1=. I think you should be able to guess what to do next by looking at my screenshot. You can set the sensitivity by changing the numbers next to the analog settings, the higher the number the higher the sensitivity. I also think that there's a way to un-invert the right joystick by changing aLookUp to aLookDown, but I always preferred my joysticks inverted so I never tried tweaking that. Ignore the comment about using your Windows gamepad utility.

Oops! I screwed up on that screenshot. The Z and R axis are assigned to the right analog stick. The Z controls vertical movement and the R controls the horizontal one. Another thing: to invert any axis on any of the joysticks, just put a - in front of it's setting.

Even with a ps3 controller, you woult not be as good as with a mouse, you cant turn near as fast, and that will get you killed.

I'll Test what you suggested and post the results, and thanks.

Could you supply me with a code to put in for the Z and R Axis? I used the U and V axis code but in-game its like viewing frenzy.(slightest touch makes it lok like cloverfield x100)

Edit(2):I still would Like a Awnser to my question above, Thanks =)

But this is what I came up with in the end

Code: Select all

Joy1=
Joy2=
Joy3=Duck
Joy4=Duck
Joy5=getweapon Translocator
Joy6=NextWeapon
Joy7=switchtobestweapon
Joy8=PrevWeapon
Joy9=
Joy10=AltFire
Joy11=InventoryPrevious
Joy12=Fire
Joy13=InventoryNext
Joy14=
Joy15=Jump
Joy16=
JoyX=Axis aStrafe speed=2
JoyY=Axis aBaseY speed=2
JoyZ=Axis aturn speed=0.2
JoyR=Axis aLookUp speed=-0.05
JoyU=
JoyV=
JoyPovRight=SwitchWeapon 6
JoyPovLeft=SwitchWeapon 7
JoyPovUp=SwitchWeapon 8
JoyPovDown=SwitchWeapon 5
Made U and V Axis the Z and R Axis with Really low Sensitivity.(its still to fast, But usable =/ )

Here are my settings. I'm still trying to calibrate the left analog stick and the right analog stick is almost adjusted. NOTE: I'm actually using an Alienware Dual-Compatible pad for PS2 and PC, not a Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3.
--------------------------

Joy1=
Joy2=
Joy3=PrevWeapon
Joy4=NextWeapon
Joy5=Jump
Joy6=Fire
Joy7=SwitchWeapon 3
Joy8=AltFire
Joy9=SwitchWeapon 9
Joy10=SwitchWeapon 0
Joy11=InventoryPrevious
Joy12=InventoryActivate
Joy13=InventoryNext
Joy14=
Joy15=
Joy16=
JoyX=Axis astrafe speed=0.9
JoyY=Axis aBaseY speed=0.9
JoyZ=Axis aLookUp speed=0.300086
JoyR=Axis aturn speed=0.3001007
