agreed nvidia cards with open g/l= best performance. If you add the proper settings.
I got a nvidia 7300gs, should i use OpenGL now, and wich proper settings ?
I have one nvidia 7300gs too, but with 256M.
And I use D3D, I tried D3D9, and it looks awsome, and it rises the brightness of the game, but as a well smoothing way.
But still, I use D3D, as it gave me no problems at all, and I am working for release a mod to public, and it's better to mod with the default D3D from UT, I think.
I never tried OpenGL, because I never thought on that render. :noidea

for developers OpenGL is easier and more powerful, OpenGL 2/2.x is superior to DirectX 10, I won't imagine the stuff possible with OpenGL 3...
That's also the reason why I have the doubled work of coding 1 new D3D 8/9 Renderer (Renderer, not Driver!) + 1 new D3D 8/9 Render Driver AND 1 new OpenGL 2.x Renderer + 1 new OpenGL 2.x Render Driver
doubled work, because everyone experiences other issues and/or advantages/disadvantages with some render types

OpenGL has little support on some cards which i think is lame. Microsoft is trying to kill it by not supporting it in their operating systems. I prefer the software renderer since it looks more 1999. =D

Well, in time software rendering will overtake hardware rendering. That means that Direct3d, OpenGl will disappear.

Hardware is faster, but software is reliable.

The software renderer is under-rated. On my last machine this thing looked so much prettier than stock Direct3D, a little grainy yes, but A LOT more color. The only thing I hated about it is that you couldn't get decals to work with it.

UTdemo Opengl

I compared it to ut. I find it much much better its more colourful, if you compared the players they aren't dull in demo. and everything brighter and perfect, blood is seen easier, effects have better color. too bad don't work in full.

edit: or opengl 1.0. I just viewed it and it + s3tc = beautiful. I find it better looking that later ones.
