ut99 vs ut99-demo
I recently joined a forum that's specifically dedicated to the demo version of ut99. A lot of the threads, at some point or other, have someone asking "Will this work in the demo?" as a lot of the things submitted have been tested on the full version.
Is there an itemized list anywhere of what the demo version of ut99 can't do that the full version can?

Re: ut99 vs ut99-demo
I also don't get it. There was someone once who asked me in facebook if NW3 would run in the demo or if I could make it run on the demo, obviously my answer was no...
Before the no-delta patch I can understand why though, but after it was released.... the full version brings so much more to the table and is much better.
Anyway, I don't know any list of things that either or not work on demo, but basically anything you see for the full version won't run in the demo most likely (due to differences in the engine itself, resource dependencies that only exist post 432, etc), or will have bugs, only the demo-specific developed mods and a few simple mods will work with no problems at all.

They do some other stuff too, as most UT forums will, but they're focused on the demo.

Re: ut99 vs ut99-demo
We don't understand why Demo is the wrong choice? DLD is a UT99 348 Demo clan, We made the choice to stay Demo, and promote UT99 as a whole. We have a download site, which includes both UT99 Demo, and 436 version files. We made the choice to stay 348 Demo, We have a active clan, and many friends which play UT99 348 Demo. We consider it our game. We are very happy with only 6 maps, but we are not too happy with the lack of up to date anticheat
We will continue to support UT99 from the grass roots level.....FYI We had 51 downloads of 348 Demo, and 22 downloads of UT99 436 from our site. Not too bad!

There's a TV commercial out there, somewhere, where a new phone becomes available and everyone who had the previous one starts destroying them "accidentally" so they have an excuse to buy the new one.DLD-RABBIT wrote:We don't understand why Demo is the wrong choice?
Some people don't see any reason to keep the old when there's a new.

Re: ut99 vs ut99-demo
Even after I'd acquired UT Game Of The Year edition, I continued playing the demo version exclusively for a few years. Started in the summer of 2000, didn't touch "Full Version" until 2007. The demo version was great in its time, had a really solid community, forum, and clan scene.
It's still going, in a much reduced form, but I've met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun times thanks to that little freebie. Don't knock it, it's longevity is astonishing.
I play a few games there now and again.

Re: ut99 vs ut99-demo
But what is the huge difference between the demo and the full version??
And you refuse it for what ever reason.
Again, what is the huge difference between those two versions?
No it's more like ...you have a phone what works pretty decent for many years. But one day did the Phone-producer-company send you an upgrade for free ...an upgrade what makes your phone more stable and add more useful functions to your phone.EvilGrins wrote:There's a TV commercial out there, somewhere, where a new phone becomes available and everyone who had the previous one starts destroying them "accidentally" so they have an excuse to buy the new one.DLD-RABBIT wrote:We don't understand why Demo is the wrong choice?

Re: ut99 vs ut99-demo
It's for the same reason all of us are still here playing this dead game: it's what we know and remember and it has fond attachment to our younger days. He associates demo with his best times and that's what he will like, I totally get that. I'd wager that even if Epic announced UT2014 and revamped everything none of us would leave here (for much the same reason, it's 'ours').
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Nah ...I would leave ...but no other game can satisfy my need for action and customisable content.
And I don't have money for a better PC ...
