1) Hardly a newsflash.
2) It's not dying... just gradually creeping to the retirement home.
3) Nothing? That's a defeatist attitude. There's plenty we can do!

Another completely stupid sentence by HIM. What a surprise.
Isn't UT99 still more played than UT2004 and UT3?
You must construct additional pylons.

Yes but I meant forums! Communities are moving to UT4 since it has a feel similiar to UT99, not that shit we normally play in UT3 or UT200x.
"Everyone is an idea man. Everybody thinks they have a revolutionary new game concept that no one else has ever thought of. Having cool ideas will rarely get you anywhere in the games industry. You have to be able to implement your ideas or provide some useful skill. Never join a project whose idea man or leader has no obvious development skills. Never join a project that only has a web designer. You have your own ideas. Focus on them carefully and in small chunks and you will be able to develop cool projects."

I can't say that they are moving ...I'm known in the UT99 community (not as good as the master mappers) and over there in UT4 I'm a totally unknown guy only three people post there I know from earlier ...the remaining player are all new guys.
UT4 is growing, but not so much because UT99 folks are moving there.

But what is true many UT99 community member have left the building... and UT99 is fading away ...but very slowly because UT99 was and is one of the best games invented.
Even now is Epic avoiding to open the source because they fear a little bit that UT99 could have a comeback and become a better success than their newer games. :ironic:

*But hey, if UT99 come back, then Epic will still earn money from buyers! :D So it would still be very good to open the source. :)
Also aren't there already some public headers?

Hmm... I would watch reversal.
Simple example MapVote. Since LA13 source has been revealed we could see developments = STILL FLAWS - Hey ! Coop Support ? Hey Skaarj ! And not very user friendly types for noob players.

Let's see some Engine source-code version = a bunch or stupid compilations, some of them running a mod and others crashing, some of players need updates which doesn't match another server and the rest of crap when engine will explode in different versions to not mention occurrences when stuff fall in wrong hands. I think is a well judgement to not reveal The Source (I have couple of tiny snippets which I won't post nowhere and neither where I found them) and I have reasons to not mock things more than they are because next chapter will be The Ruin not Development in such case and I know what I'm saying - they also have "//fixme" proving what was done (just wondered which one will fix what). People needs a solid FIXED thing, not a bunch of sh!t releases. UTPG failed mission being "a group of programmers". Then what do am I supposed to expect from less programmers with a tiny brain (me included) ? For sure will be optimized for their mods not for community.

And now the rest of things:
- DOCUMENTS COMPLETED;
- releasing MODELS sources - "FIGHTER" GARBAGE has to be solved - people need original meshes to rework missing animations - there are a bunch needed.

Not sure who runs http://myunreal.com/forum.php but that forum only puts posts up after they're approved, and the last 2 I sent over a month ago haven't been approved yet.

Sadly Skillz didn't leave an explanation for what happened to the forum. Most admins do when their stuff goes kaput for a bit.

He posted this over at UA
Server had a hardware issue that required me to "physically" login to the box using a remote KVM to fix it. It's back now. No worries.
Though I'm not sure why there. No one goes there any more.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

If you mean his forum, yeah it's not so busy anymore. Other than a fairly active Screenshots thread Image his forum barely gets 3 or 4 replies on any given week, and hardly any new threads. Probably as his activity is divided, as to better support him since he got back, after his site & forum was down for a couple years, he & medor have been sharing resources to keep both their files better synced up.

At this point they basically have all the same files, more or less.

If you mean no one goes to his servers anymore... well, I can't speak to that.

Well... some people do still go there. Otherwise you'd never have seen it.
