I'm aware this has come up before but I've never had as much of a problem with it as I'm currently having.
On occasion my UT games are working at hyper speed. Usually exiting out of the game and then going back in will fix this. Or it will cause it to go VERY slow, but eventually repeating the process gets the game back to a normal speed.
I've been stuck at hyper speed for 12 hours. Exiting out and going back in has a couple times reduced it to VERY slow but it's not going back to normal speed. It's like the normal speed has reverted to the hyper speed now.
How can I get out of this hyper issue and back to normal?

Re: Speed issues
That indeed look like the symptoms of multicore processors issues.medor wrote:You have a MultiCore processor ? If true which one?

Re: Speed issues
This always seems to work when playing on a laptop (dual core processor runs a little to fast for UT)...but it might work for you.
Go to your startup screen, right click your mouse and then click Properties (Personalize). Now click Screen Saver.
Go to Monitor Power and click Power. Now change your Power scheme to always on.
Click Apply, cross fingers and then give it a try.

Re: Speed issues
Are you using standard Direct3D or updated OpenGl renderer? Enable your OpenGL framerate limiter.

Re: Speed issues
Funny though, no matter the computer, as long it was a Intel + ASUS + nVidia combo it never gave these issues.
But yes, speed issues are related to multicore processors, there are plenty of fixes though:
- Setting UT cpu speed to a fixed value;
- Disable Cool' N Quiet in BIOS for AMD;
- Setting UT.exe affinity to just one of the cpu cores;
- And the list goes on...

Re: Speed issues
I have not had any issues to be honest with these speed things but I have seen it happen. Along with ferali's suggestions you should also add the cpuspeed for the exe which should force it to run at the specified speed. If you have intel, disable speedstep
