Monsters: best & worst

Post by EvilGrins » Sun Sep 16, 2012 11:24 pm

I love me some Skaarj! More the military units than the tailed type but they're both great.

Someone ported a zombie from Quake into UT. Thing is slow, annoying, and nearly impossible to kill; it keeps getting back up.

Question:
Either from those that are part of the Unreal/UT series, or ones that were ported into the game, which do you love and which do you hate?

I like all the original ones.
There is only one that I hate and that is the little dinosaur (forgot the name). it is so damn annoying.

I also like Skaarjs, both warriors and troopers, also warlords. Many MH mappers are very creative with these. And their designs are priceless as well. Same for Mercenaries.
I definitely hate Titans.. or their projectiles to be exact. Most mappers put them in small areas where it's hard to avoid them, and give them tons of hp. Ouch. But generally they are very fun to fight against.
For the most boring monster, I'd definitely say queen. Only thing I have to watch out is that it doesn't telefrag me. So rarely have original queen on my MH maps. I usually edit them to be some roaming beasts as pupaes are used in original game or use them as replacement for cows. Funny design.

Would love to see Quake zombie in UT, where did you get it? Are other Quake monsters made for UT as well? Damn.

It's got zombies, knights, and this demony dog looking thing. A mummy too but that's just another form of zombie.

Here you go.

In ProxyMoon and in the MrTitan map the Red Gasbag is very annoying, moving fast and the projectile kick your ass :D

I tried to use those on a monsterhunt map but it wouldn't take. They're not actually monsters...

5 of them chasing, laughing and killing you ...THOSE ARE MONSTERS!!!

But maybe not pawns.
Some one should convert them into pawns ...imagine a map with 100.000 of this ...and all of them hunting you down.

There is a MH map with the word "Giants" in its name. There is a part where when you step on a trigger stone or something like that it says something like "you have released the bastard" or the bastard is now loose. Anyways, it is some sort of a Skaarj Assassin if I recall and he has plenty of health and has burst of super speed with burst of kill you on the spot blast of some sort. That guy is one of my favorite monsters.

Mr. Titan must always be on the top 5 list too. He is coolest mean monster with a bad attitude ever developed.

I totally agree lol.

Almost forgot the zombies on DeadCity map or something, they look like Unreal models, have red skin, are super fast and hunt you in masses each by jumping at you, dead ones constantly respawn, and in addition have titan's voice. These are real monsters indeed.

There's a bunch of zombie packages out there, I've got like 5 different kinds, but I still love these the most.

Zombi:

They don't so much walk, they shuffle/slide. There's 20 different kinds: fast, mother (spawns swarms of little zombis), giant, teleporter, sniper, etc.

They don't eat you either. They just grab you and you explode into gibs.
