Is UT99 just the orginal Unreal tournament gotye?

UT Goty is more or a less a special version of the normal ut. It includes from the beginning the content of the 4 bonuspacks, has the versionnumber 432 and hmm well has an other ingame desktop background. I guess, thats it.

I'm getting a new UT disc soon for my new computer because mine is messed up, what should I get? GOTY or 99, I've heard of problems with the GOTY version.

I think you have heard of problems with the Unreal Anthology version (there are some, some of them can be fixed with an unofficial patch)

I always had GOTY, didn't have ant problems whit it. And it's the same game.
The only difference is that GOTY has bonus pack 1 2 3, it is patched to 436 and a second CD contains an outdated version of Chaos UT, and a hi-res texture pack.
And these differences can be freely downloaded, so it's the same game.

(I dunno about the anthology version, I have it, but never installed it since I had GOTY before)

I have GotYE, Totally Unreal boxset, and Unreal Anthology boxset. EVERYTHING in Unreal Anthology is screwed up, I can't patch or load XMP (UII servers are no longer running but seriously, what the hell?) on my Unreal II, I had to download a registry fix for my UT99 (to get UMOD files to work) as well as the original CD 1 Textures (CD2 ones cause skating), I couldn't find a fix for UT2K4's registry so I can't get certain mods like Jailbreak installed, and you have to download an unofficial patch to take Unreal Gold online. Unreal Anthology: Big pain in the ass. After a few minutes of setting up UT99 I decided to just replace the UT99 directory with my other one and run the registry fix instead of seeking out the mods I wanted.

So no Unreal Anthology and I should get the GOTY. Thanks

Not necessarily. Like I said I was able to fix the problems in Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament GotYE with two unofficial patches and a CD 1 textures download. If you get Anthology I'll post the links to the textures and the patches.

I have always played goty with zero problems so that is what i would suggest but get what suits you best.

yea i can't find the game in any shop but you could try ebay or even a torrent download

I've tried ebay and amazon but I'm not using torrent, I want a new game not downloaded off the internet so I know its not full of crap like the last disc I had.

99 editions are hard to come by these days, i only got mine from my stepdad because he is a pack rat

Yeah, I been looking for nearly an hour and couldn't find any GOTY editions so I had to settle with a original UT99 from ebay

Honestly walk into a best buy or some store like that they sometimes have copies of ut99 in bargain bins etc.
