ACE Whitelist Maintenance

Post by $carface »

Not sure where this should go....

I had to pester anth a little but finally have whitelist maintenance files.

So, please post all legit files, their source etc so I can compile a whitelist which will be in the ACEDEFS update!

Thanks

PS this includes any blacklisted files (that aren't yet blacklisted)

From the UT Community SDK...

Start with the sdkOpenGL.dll

I wouldn't venture with the other sdk dll's yet, they can call traces.
We'd need more input from shadow here.

A list of hacked files would be useful as well.

What is the verdict on liltweak? Is it considered a cheat, or is it already whitelisted?

That's based on personal opinion really. If you are a server admin and use antitweak then I believe it is blacklisted. Up to the server admin whether it is allowed or not. ACE doesn't check for tweaks.

billybill wrote:and if possible, remove the need for a whitelist. More servers with dll files is a good thing. There was a thread here about making a new mapvote, well you could have a ton more functions in a dialog box if you load a dll file and that's just one example.

This hooked file is lifted right from utdc, which always had problems when servers had their own dll files. Couldn't we move to much more emphasis on detecting illegal ufunction calls, and not need a whitelist

Having said that, and moving back on topic. It's really good ACE updates it's own whitelist but then who's going to ensure the domain is going to always be up? who gets the final say on what is white and what is "black"?

We're trying to encourage development of mods here aren't we?

And in all honesty, DLL files are something you can't leave without a whitelist, otherwise calling all kind of visual checks would become far simpler, not to mention that it would provide a way around the illegal uFunction ones.

Hello. This not a discussion about it's existence or to justify it. I just know it's very outdated and needs am update. I have a list of files that I will be including and will post but wanted some input of files I may have missed. Please stay on topic.

It's worth being mentioned that Scarface is a senior, trusted member of the community. If your server runs a custom anticheat package then this is a good opportunity to get those packages quietly added without having to let everyone know what you do. There's no one active you can trust more when it comes to server security.
So long, and thanks for all the fish

Lol thanks jack but I don't know about senior. Trustworthy maybe somewhat :p

At this very moment I have the oldunreal openAL sound driver. I'm also looking for the SDK drivers. I've seen a lot of players logged and kicked for them. Anyone know where I can get them?

Hey Scarface any chance you could see about getting a driver white listed?

Lulz.
Btw general info here:
UT SDK Drivers have dependancies on SDKCore.dll and SDKEngine.dll, which register to GNatives tables, it'll be impossible to whitelist them until we get custom made builds of these two packages without the registers (i'd also remove that extra Trace functions in it for this hypothetical version).

EDIT:
I know I should have mentioned this like... 6 months ago.
Again I'm not good at giving updates and heads up :loool:

If it's those new audio drivers they are too buggy, and if they crash my game I wouldn't want to be responsible for people crashing left and right. Might be better ACE forces defaults sometimes  And look at how many versions it took D3D10 to get it right, that one is whitelisted and works fine for the most part. I know there's a bug that causes excessive CPU use sometimes but still I'd vouch for it any day

Edit: Anyone tried this guy's renderers? (Bottom of page)
