Hello Everyone.

I thought we should have some contests for the following reasons:
1.- For fun of course!
2.- Expand our mutator, weapon, pickup collection.
3.- End up with stuff like "UT99.org weapon pack" or "UT99.org Crazy Weapons!"

What do you guys think?

To begin with I thought of this first contest.

UT99.org Monster Weapon Contest.
People have to develop one weapon (and Ammo of course) that looks, feels, sounds and works like a monster (Picture a player holding a Pupae that shoots little meat chunks).
Rules:
- One weapon only (so people focus on making it work really great and not spend time making many not so cool weapons).
- The weapon must look like a monster in pickup mode, third person view and first person view.
- It must make the sounds that the monster does for pickup, selecting it, shooting and all sounds.
- It must be made with only the classes that come with a fresh UT install (this means you can't import new textures, sounds, etc.), only using the sounds, textures, meshes and all that comes with UT.
- The package name should be UT99OrgMW
- Provide the source code (all the classes you made) as well as a full description of the weapon.
- All your text strings should have proper grammar and calligraphy even if you are adding silly comments and please refrain of using curse words (leave those for when you get killed).
Example of default values and strings:
WeaponDescription="Classification: Portable Queen." // of course I need to further develop this one.
DeathMessage="%k's %w turned %o into meat pudding." // "Death's Portable Queen turned Tamerlane into meat pudding."
PickupMessage="You picked up the Portable Queen."
ItemName="Portable Queen"

And we can't call this a contest without a a prize! :D
So this is not a contest :(
Really, the prize is just participation, showing your stuff to people and bla bla bla, think of the reasons I gave for making a contest in first place.

Deadline: June 30 [Yes, No?].

Current Weapons:
[Slot 4] Sushi Gun by JackGriffin.
[Slot 5] Portable Queen (may not have that name at the end) by UTDeath.
[Slot 6] The Waspenator by Raikayn.
[Slot 8] Squidy by Feralidragon.
[Slot 0] The Guardian by Rocky.

I guess throwing pupaes at other ppl's heads is out of question (half life did this with the snarks).
Still, all kinds of trap springers come to mind...

Hey, if you want a weapon that shoots Pupae then go ahead, that would be fun. :tu:

Boo :( I already saw a Pupae as a weapon once, I knew there were some but who cares? it shouldn't mess with our contest as the weapons would be different and all that and at the end we would compile them together with a mutator replacer called "UT99.org Monster Weapon pack".

A devil fish gun could have the biter fish as alt-fire, or as the exploding chunks.
Tuna cans for ammo pickups ?

There is a pupae weapon for Unreal. I would suggest expanding beyond it.
I've said before we should have an egg-laying gun.
It could work like a grenade launcher and the bio-gun.
Primary fire = bouncing egg that hatches when still or on contact with a pawn.
Secondary = sticky hatching eggs that work as proximity-mines.

Eggs could also be colour-coded multi-ammo. Containing either Pupae, Maidens, Spinners, Scorpions, Snakes etc.
You could then use either Flak cannon or Bio-gun as the weapon base model.
A Chaos version would work well as it already has the animations for handling egg-shaped items when used as a hand-weapon. The Claw/Flak2 weapon also has the perfect animations for an egg-launcher.

There is a MH map something called MH-ElhandraTemple, in that there is a Devil Fish Weapon which spawns Team Pupae's and those Pupae's also try to kill Enemy Pupae's

Interesting concept for a coding contest. Original idea and limitations to make it code-only oriented. Not sure if I am going to contribute with something, but this gave me some ideas and I might make something for this.

The Ripper Blades could be arranged like the Rocket grenades in the Cluster redeemer. :mrgreen:

Just to let you know, I am going with the Squid. I have a weapon idea for it. both fire and alt-fire modes.
Btw, UTDeath, can we use other UT standard sounds for explosions and such? I mean, I understand for selecting and pickup, but for the actual effects (shooting, exploding, etc) we probably should be able to use any sound from the standard UT (explosions, ambient sounds, etc), since most monsters have only a few set of sounds limiting the potential of such weapons.

Just a suggestion though, you make the rules :tu:
