Looks like a reasonable bloom setup.
Is that ENB or SweetFX or something ?

No, its appearance is completely incidental and happens out of necessity. For whatever reason, the videos I get from using Shadowplay turn out much, much darker than my actual ingame gamma settings (bright as hell). What's weird is that any drastic difference between video and ingame brightness is evident with UT only. Other, newer games' captured video shows either only slight difference or none at all. To compensate I max out the brightness setting in movie maker as I trim each 20 minute (or less) Shadowplay video into clips. Once I have enough clips for a full movie i put each back into movie maker and up the brightness again, this time not all the way but just a touch. Any substantial increase this time and the video looks washed out and blindingly bright. I'm forced to do it twice since it still looks a bit dark after just one pass.

I'm obviously not skilled in either decent video editors or editing itself. The brightness crap was pretty much trial and error, I finally found a decent balance. I'm sure there's a much more efficient way to create clips. Also, if anyone knows, I'm surely degrading the quality of the original video by rendering it twice in movie maker instead of just once, right?

Ah I see.
That would explain the extra contrast you have (actually looks nice).
This seems to be a common problem.
When I capture with "Open Broadcaster" I have it set to boost gamma to 1.35.
The captured vid looks about the correct level on my setup.

BTW I use the modern DX9 renderer. This is also much faster and compatible with modern software.
What is your GFX card ?
There are things like SweetFX that can help tweak/fix your game display before capture. ATI cards have an easy way to use it.

Yup same when I use Irfanview to convert files for posting.
You can try the advanced game gamma adjustment in the in file, but that never seems to look good.

Gtx 770. Yea I like the appearance after the 2 passes, I'm just concerned that I'm losing quality with a 2nd go round
