Using the software renderer on the second lowest res and the skin and environment settings on high (setting them to low didn't boost performance noticably) I was able to get UT to run at an average of 17 FPS on a PC with these specs:Raynor wrote:Then it comes down to hardware. If player WANTS low details and he thinks it will improve his skill then he has free choice to do this.

Soundcard: ? Some kind of junk card that used an ISA (old!) bus type
HDD: 2GB junk HDD-Had to do a minimal install
CPU: Intel Pentium II
