I plan to rebuild this map (without X-mas theme) and need constructive critique to make it better.
inb4 ...the bot pathing is not made by me ...Fragnbrag helped me a lot there.

Speaking about lights, eh... many good designers I think left UT because it lacks in net codes - I found other option which could be functional if codes would be written properly... speak into coding section.

Many good designers left UT because the game's getting like old. You know like... Dodos?

They left when servers were Full Of People because their creativity Was Limited by a bunch of bugs - BAD default Net Stuff... + Accessed Nones... oh, wait, UT doesn't include bugs, UT IS a bug which first has to be fixed before usage and nobody moved a finger until 2004 when was morphed into a worst thing :sad2:.
That's why I'm appreciating Higor's work as long as others have just done an a$$ and now I can really enjoy it - finally, after 15 years.
To recall, I had a read-me saying

Code: Select all

Installation instructions

Unzip in your UnrealTournament/Maps folder.

KNOWN Problems: Weeeeee! None!
See this ? It's true... map had 0 bugs (or author has this feeling) else map has that ON-LINE crap lightning (is really annoying no joking) and he doesn't know LE-LC-LE combos, some stuff was working by chance (distance based) because pathing there even developed a crash when I was testing some stuff. Yea: Weeee !! Mooo !! Uuuuu !! and so on... :loool: .

BTW, fore-mentioned CTF map has a file required which doesn't exist in archive, so map's archive has bugs.

DM-wz2-addominus and DM-wz5-revolution are a sort of mixed ones - with default lightning bug.
YES, all creativity goes to TrashBox as long as Net stuff not works as supposed and nobody helped the guy to do the job properly. I don't need to dig for more stuff - this is relevant: OFF-Line != ON-Line.

Also you can visit Skillz's collection - there are bunches of maps and UNR files in there :D.

Okay, let's see other interesting way in mapping - I RESPECT SUCH things.

Maps is called DM-WhatDreamsMayCome.unr and seems an outdoor one. I cannot say about it as being an extreme quality but... Let's see original notes:

Code: Select all

All I can say is please please please review this map! I really want criticism on my style,
so that my next map will be a huge improvement.
Thank you!
Everyone
So, given testing machine, map doesn't lag anymore now days (I guess, right ?). My problem is Inventories as usual having nodes but no nodes in extreme zones (not a problem for MBot in this case). I would appreciate a full pathing and removing useless NavigationPoint added without purpose.
Else... YES, it might be a good one.

Time for bump this a little.
Found and tested:
- DM-Annex.unr;
- DM-Annama.unr;
- DM-RorkesDrift.unr.
All downloads are located at <mapraider.com>. I guess you won't feel sorry for trying them. At least these are better than many which I found.

Others were almost good but still messing at pathing. Paths red non-usable, but are doable using tiny hacks + DistanceLighting which doesn't have Net code. Example: DM-Traitorsgate.unr - but it's fixable.

"DM_ITT" is supposed to be the prefix ? I wanna see the rest...
Edit:
Show me the way... You lost me here... I don't understand this joke. After renaming it for a proper DM visibility through the rest of maps I got this:

Have you started it ? Which Core ? Do I Need a New Core and I've missed it ?
After double-click on it without to load game first:

Well ?
Or maybe is perfect one and it needs to be very protected against anyone's access... :ironic: Right ?

YMMD
Same message occurs here. Furthermore - although users never read docs - I found this:

And then that:

I am no quality assurance agent, just passing along a file, of which I have far too many to play/test them all.

That doc is common for those with some selfish (MY STUFF, MY MAP, MY MOD) and it's Epic behind after all. This one is more than that, is an exception - No one with original UnrealTournament is able to start it - I'm even doubt that might be a Map. Then... more dumb trash is posted here and there, no worries about one more. Perhaps Funky or Gustavo can fix it and then we can happily play it.

In previous post I gave some examples which are very functional. I'm not sure who is unhappy with them but NsDM + MBot + Mr. Flakson(a Nasty Skaarj) = Good game-play. Design, pathing, geometry - these are all in one for defining term "Good Work".

Of course I found others cute but... bad paths, bad stuff, unbalanced items, etc.

CTF-ValleyOfTheKings is a decent outdoors map, I did an edit of it a stretch back · viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6137

I have re-edited it due to some pathing problem (bad or missing large areas), I don't recall all details right now but navigation has been extended and ReachSpecs unused removed in next edit. Like as in title "quality" is the goal.
