Need a couple of MH map names
I'll be perfectly honest here. Anything that happened before treatment can be hard for me to recall. It's like looking through glass that has a light frosting of fog on it. I can remember ideas and general stuff but specific things are sometimes really hard for me to pull out. I'm stuck now on one of those things and I need some help.
In the monsterhunt maps (especially the Godz style ones) there are a couple of maps that require you to guide the redeemer through an obstacle course to unlock a weapon. One of them was particularly well done, the beginning couple of barriers were spinning circular openings and there were pipes beyond that you had to guide through. It was pretty tough.
Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
As my computer's down I haven't been hitting the forums (while at work) as much lately (why torture myself?) but that guided redeemer thing does fit something I saw in the official UT forum, though it wasn't MH.
It was a redeemer race, using Strangelove 'deemers, gametype. Intricate maps designed for redeemer-play only.
Are you sure it was MH you're thinking of?

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
Yeah, the particular map I'm thinking of is a Godz type map. The main spawn room had movers that dropped from the ceiling when you unlocked the different stuff. It had the normal teleports along the walls with the different monsters in order. There were also teleporters for unlocking the different weapons. One thing that does stand out is that you could unlock the pickup that looks like a can and growls when you pick it up, and it makes you run very fast. Anyway one of the weapon teles leads to another room where you cannot pass through with redeemers (to keep you from bringing them back) and then you go to the actual redeemer room. In that room you stand at the edge of lava and fire the redeemer alt-style through some spinning circles. It's pretty hard actually. On the other side of the circles are pipes you have to navigate. At the end is a square you have to hit.

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
that sounds familiar... the redeemer bit -- there's a lot of godz type maps - do you remember which mapper? or any theme details ? (did it look like shit, lol?)

No it was actually very well done. The main room had monsters over the doors (behind glass displays), same with the weapons. I played it on Hitty's server but he couldn't remember the name either. We are a couple of old farts that have memory loss I guess.

edit - can't find file for package "AdvancedModelSupport"

I have the zip file in my archive and it was missing citytex if you don't have that one too.

That matches mine but IIRC there are two versions of that file floating around.

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
citytex.utx is the first classic mismatch and from standard UT and the creator of that second file should have a kick in the balls for that...

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
Haha, of all the Godz maps it was the one I helped finish, yes, the redeemer part was brilliant, Salty really did a great job there, sadly there were so many movers that it lagged any server known to man.
I stripped a lot of it out, but I could not get myself to touch that area, cause I loved the idea behind it.

Re: Need a couple of MH map names
Lag as in network lag or simply server taking too much time to process a frame?
Maps with looooots of movers are no longer an issue since the invention of XC_Engine
