making a skin
Hey,
I've been modeling and texturing for a while now and I thought it would be nice to test my skills with making a new skin for UT. Here's the process so far:
I tried compiling it to see how it looked in UT but for some reason my pc restarted and UT wouldn't work after that. So I'm reinstalling it and hope it will work again.
anway. I was thinking of turning this skin into an UT99.org skin to promote the site a bit.
What do you think? =)

I've got my skinmaker from this site and it came with wire images for all the standard models for UT (commando, soldier etc.)
But what I always do is:
open the unreal editor.
locate the skin you want to edit (for example commandoskin.utx)
and file>export the needed textures.
then with a program like photoshop you can edit them.

The thing is.
there are two different things:
1) Take a standard mesh (grid) like Commando, Soldier, Female Soldier, etc.... and change the pcx (picture files) so called textures, to make them look what you like. This is the option Skinmaker gives you, and the most popular.
2) Make a new model (mesh)... Well, you need a 3D editor and it's way more difficult than the one before.
I suggest everyone go with option 1, unless you have the time to investigate.

Don't need them with Skinmaker. They're Embedded inside the program.Dare wrote:Yeah i know about that but where do i find the meshes?[FsA]Lordinario wrote:

You select the type and the mesh appears for you to apply the textures.

Re: making a skin
And I would like to win the lottery... that would make me very happy.
But seriously, since there's no UT model that comes even close to Lisa it will take alot of time and efford to make a lisa skin.
You will have to:
- model lisa
- rig the model for animation
- unwrap the model
- skin
- import into UT (which isn't easy)
