Hello everyone
Long time UT fan here. I started making some maps again for the first UT (it is the best ) and im having fun and all.
But I want to learn how to make my own character and use it.
I couldnt find any tutorial about custom characters in UT. I found some ut2k4 and ut3, but the method is problably very different.
So I really don't know where to start. I dont want to create the animation on my own, i would like to use the animations from UT (if possible ofcourse)
The modeling aspect should be no problem. I know my way around 3d (no expert though) I use mainly 3dsmax, but if i have to use another piece of software let me know.
What im trying to say is. How should I start, what methods. Any guidelines/tutorials to help me in this matter?
Or even, is it worth it at all? I could always resort to just skinning
Thanks for your time
-Sidenote: Great to see alot of activity in the old UT game!

Re: Import a custom character model in UT
Hi, there are a lot of old resources you can use. If you want to use Epic's skeletal animations, download their skeletons from here: http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx ... letons.zip
Then you'll have to rig your model so it uses the same skeleton. There are a lot of tutorials that explain more about skeletal animations here: http://web.archive.org/web/200511050114 ... ials.shtml
You might want to use Advanced Model Support because it has Epic's skeletal animations included. http://www.pseudorandom.co.uk/2001/paradox/ams/
If you have any questions, let me know. Those tutorials and Epic's documentation should cover everything, though.

Ah Thanks mate!
I look into it.
Shame a few import tutorials links are dead, but this should get me at least started.
