You have enough details in your skin ...try to toy around with different grey+color combination. And don't paint everything in the same color it'll make your skin look dull.
fudgonaut wrote:That's what I've been thinking. I'm trying a military/olive drab base paint instead of grey-ish metal.
But use it only on the bigger skin parts ... let the details (like the gears) in this grey color with the already painted weathering.
Make for the olive base paint a separate weathering effect.

Here a quick & dirty pass I was working on last night. I'll need to do a true pass on both coloring and weathering, but it gives the basic idea:

Thanks GEx - I'll definitely put it online when done. Any suggestions on a good site/repository to upload the finished product to?

Well if the zip will end up being smaller then 2mb, then just make a seperate thread and upload as an attachment.

http://www.utzone.de is a German site that hosts UT stuff. There's an empty UT Skin folder there.

Eigher way medor might upload it at his site http://medor.no-ip.org ;)

That's all I know.

Now does it look very interesting. The details are good enough viewable.
I can't wait to see the final skin.

You can upload the finished product here in the forum. And I would also suggest file-hosts like Mediafire

It will probably be more, I'm thinking of including two boss voices I did back in the day.

Then add them in seperate zips (up to 5 attachments per post - 2mb max each) :agree1:

I like it, though it now reminds of a Christmas ornament.

So that was a lie.

I had forgotten that Diesel was the 2nd skin I ever made. I stumbled across the first skin I did - was suitably horrified at how bad it looked - and have decided to remake that one too. I'm using the Photoshop 3D method from my other post, starting with laying down basic features. The plan is to have four faces that feature different style eyes: fly, mantis, hornet, and spider (shown below). The original had an animated thigh pad, not sure if I'll do that again since it was a lot of effort and wasn't very noticeable.

Back in the day (a phrase I've way too many times today) when UTskins.com was still around there was a a general consensus view that the colors most skinners didn't put into their work, more often than not, were orange & purple & pink. Which is one of the reasons I've made skins with those specific colors.

If not pink, it'd be cool to see other skinners use orange & purple more often.

Need to finish shadowing on the face and back half of the model, some alignment, and detail for the hands & feet. Then, onto the eyes and coloration:
