This would probably need more than 1 guy.. and there was a DooM 1 Mod for UT already but was quit due to copyright questions leading to ID denying the release of this Mod.

Well, if the maps can be so simple as like in the Original, you can build one of them in 1 - 3 days
About to be non-active
My very last UT map project: CTF-FacePalm (tropical CTF-Face remake)
Why do I leave? click here
What I want to do next: Joining an UDK team (uncertain however) and improve 3D modelling and texture editing skills
Thanks to those who visibly supported me until/at the end!

I think it wouldn't be harder then make a mod for a game. But why would you want this? You would pretty much just have Doom running on another engine.

Well personally I recommand the Doomsday Engine, it's an enhanced Doom Engine capable of running many Doom-based games on Win98/XP/Vista with even better visuals. It works with Doom I, Doom II, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom, Heretic, Hexen (+AddOn), Hexen II (+AddOn) and Strife as long as you have the original *.wad's. There's also the ZDoom/Vavoom Engine.
