[INFO] Beta-Testers

Post by Shadow » Thu Dec 17, 2009 9:51 pm

UNCLE SHADOW WANTS YOU !

This is the official Teasting Thread to control and oversee the results of the soon coming SDK Tests.
I will allocate each Beta Tester to a specialized Feature Section, as testing all features is possible but too time consuming for one person. So just tell me:

- if you're interested in
- what you're interested in
- where your strength/potential/skills and weaknesses are

And then I'll allocate a feature section for you.
Constant, constructive and scientific (!) work and communication with me and the other Beta-Testers is required !
Each Beta-Tester gets the Full Source Code, unfortunately I cannot offer any complete Documentation yet, but I grant help if needed, as always, abuse of the Source is forbidden (see below).

Tasks
  • How well may the End-User utilize the tested Feature/Classes intuitionally ?
  • How well may the End-User understand the Class Hierarchy ?
  • Are the Variables understandable ?
  • May the End-User understand/not understand the Functionality of a certain Class ?
  • How was the impression of the Feature as a whole ?
  • Any Performance-Drops noticed ?
  • Huntdown and report any Bug you can find !
  • Make proposals what can/should be improved !
After a good report is ready, a Beta-Tester opens a Thread of his own for his Section.

It would also be nice if there would be more than 1 Tester for certain Sections.

Oh and one last word, each Beta-Tester may only share Source Code knowledge with me and other offiicial Testers, everything else is senseless and makes me go postal, also probably stealing Source Code doesn't get you anything, without my guidance.
Although being 100 % Freeware and Opensource as Endproduct, the SDK still stands under a Copyright Licence.
Okay sounds a bit arrogant, but I worked for it for over 3 Years now, I hope you understand that...

I think I'll take XShader System. I would really love to see to what extent it could be possible to make model skins look more 'dynamic'. Ya know, like the unlit and shine layers I used on 'some mod' (now I learnt the lesson. no advertising). Also, it should be more stable than my crappy method.

Ok ! As I know that you can code and have already gained experience in your overlayer system I will add you to the list as Official Beta-Tester for the XShaders System ! :)
Oh, and thanks that you took the first step !

I have many maps but nothing realy to speak of... except this three.

For CS 1.6
The de_stormfront
http://temple.fpsbanana.com/ss/maps/161185.jpg
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/70441

For UT
The DM-GangWar-Kairo
http://dog.fpsbanana.com/ss/maps/101193a.jpg
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/101193

And the DM-GangWar-Rocketfight
http://dog.fpsbanana.com/ss/maps/113261a.jpg
http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/113261

Right now I'm working on a jungle theme DM map ...but my unrealEd is some how broken I can't edit the vertexes... but that's another story.

Oh... Ps.: And I have a project running in the modification area ...click on my signature

I'm not sure how much scripting is required for the UnrealCine Movie System because I am an absolutely noob at it. But I'm not bad as a Level Designer, I think and I love to make short movies in my maps. I would do anything I am able to if I may participate ;)
