MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
MoreBlood Release Candiate 7.5
Updates for this version include:
1. Full support for greenblooded monsters. Drops and splat decals.
2. Option to set greenblood as default for Pupae and/or Slith.
3. Better optional death effect. (A version of the BloodyMess effect being used.)
4. 42 new blood splat decals. *Credit to -dDefinder for letting me extract these
from his CS mod and convert/modify them for use with UT.
5. Slight improvement to the default UT red blood drops.
6. Includes updated version of DecalStay that supports the new splats.
*All Credit for DecalStay to Mongo@PlanetUnreal
This does generate a lot of decals. If you start having lag/slow down
when lots of decals are about, 1st thing to try is turning down the
DecalStay multiplier. Next would be setting the SpawnRate setting
in the MoreBlood configuration higher and/or lowering some of the
other settings.
Additional note for server use. You will want to set the BDLifeSpan value
about twice as high or more for the same lifespan as you would for offline play.
Also recommend keeping the SpawnRate value in the 0.25 - 0.75 range for servers.
See the readme.txt file(s) for more info.
Enjoy!

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
The additional splatter PCX files are not really transparent in game, the boxes around are visible. Has anybody adjusted this? Or can i do it? Whats the right color value for a real transparent effect?

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
I never noticed any issue with it
when you next post, please give some useful back-ground, so we know what you have tried.
1) Which renderer are you using ?
2) Have you updated to a modern renderer ?
3) Have you enabled any of the advanced renderer settings, or are you built-in defaults ?
4) Have you visited the official site to ask the author ? (This thread is a year old)

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
Yeah it's Loathsome's thread, but he's often busier on his own forum and server.
Cool you have Chris Dohnal's replacement renderer.
Advanced settings http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/settings.html
so if switching on some of the nice features that your card supports does not help, it could be windows driver settings clashing.
There is an excellent guide here on how to setup the advanced renderer options.
http://www.ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=373
If that does not help, then Loathsome is gonna have to deal with it, but you'll need to give lots more info on your PC.
I mean if you've got an ATI then stop using GL and swap to the D3D9 renderer, as it works better for many.
Is it an intel, then pray for help ?
Do you have Win 7 or Vista? then there is the D3D10 and 11 renderers you can try.
I am not going to do lots of guessing, or this post for notification of a download will fill up with general tech-support (which it already has).
And I'm going to assume you have updated your Motherboard chipset drivers before you updated your graphics drivers ?

I dont see what all this has to do with it...i just looks like the transparency color in the new blood graphics is a little off.

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
I just looked at the base PCX files and nuff is indeed correct. There is some variation on the background gray that is removed on a transparency. I can see that it would have edges on some of the splatter because of this.
I chat with loathsome off the boards and I'll let him know. He included the pcx files in the mod download but in order to fix this correctly I'd need the psd files to get at the layers. Hopefully he still has them and it will be an easy repair. This is such an easy mistake to make and it's why I always use the same gray base on every transparency I make.

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
I know exactly the issue nuff has pointed out.
It is interesting that the square boxes that you noticed, don't always show up. It seems to depend
upon the texture the decals have landed on. In some maps, you wont notice it at all, on others the issue
is much easier to detect.
@Jack. I never had any psd files for these at all. Collected up all the splat decals from a variety of various sources, and any adjustments
I made to them were done right on the PCX files using a stale version of Paint Shop Pro. (Ver. 5)

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
This happens too in the conversion among files types. I've seen converting from jpg to gif to png slightly alter the gray enough that it will shadow when rendered on the right surfaces. What I do is open a default blood texture, grab the gray from it, and then make a background solid tile. Then, no matter the image I'm working on, I overlay my gray on the existing one as a last step before indexing the color. It's an extra step but it ensures no redoing because of shadows. Nothing sucks worse than trying to find the right psd in a dev folder.
Just another weirdness of the engine to be contended with.

So what are the correct values for UT to render a color transparent? Maybe i will try to fix them myself. But i dont know wich color is the transperant one.

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
It's an exact gray. RGB of 128, 128, 128.

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
Haven't tried this yet, but conceptually it reminds me of the MoreGore mutator.
That was a lot of chunky fun... although it was always weird to see a guy gibbed and have there be 5 or 6 feet gibbed out of his remains.

Re: MoreBlood mutator RC7.5
Really 3 times 128 gray? That seems far off, at the moment the background is in perfect black.
