DougZilla AKA -=XFree86=-

Post by DougZilla »

Hello my fellow UT players from around the world. I used to play UT everyday, but I got a family and was not allowed to play, I used to play under the name -=XFree86=-
I am sure a lot of members here have seen my around, I am the ANGRY PLAYER...LOL . But not I am back at this game. And need some help. I am a mapper, just had to re-install everything on my PC.
Which is a not bad home made PC. tried to install UT GOTY on my Linux Mint, with no luck, so I used another HDD in my PC (5 HDDS , only 3 are really OK) But I am looking for Patches. I need something newer than 4.36. I was hoping this forum may have some, but I cannot find them, but I can look elsewhere, but as I said I am a mapper. I have about 3 or 4 good maps I need someone to host or I can on my PC, one I get everything setup.

I also have about 1.5 GB of maps (mainly Bunny tracks if anyone is interested in maps. (YES, I backed up all my maps and folders...LOL) I was NOT about to loose over 10 years of gaming to a POS operating system which I will not mention(**COUGH**\/\/in[3LoW5 10 *COUGH*) Including about 5 of mine that nobody even played, except maybe "Catacombs" on the old Donut Server, only because I would pick it and leave...LOL. I like LowGravInstaGib!!! I was a {H:O:G} MEMBER for many years until they broke apart. Some of you old school players remember us.

If anyone sees DougZilla outthere playing, please say Hi.

Peace out,
Douglas "DougZilla" aka "-=XFree86=-"Combs
UT fan since UT99, have about all the versions out there, because it is such an AWESOME game!!!!

Welcome here!

You can play UT99 under Linux using the Wine Wrapper (I think Wine version 1.8 is the last stable one).
You can use the taskset commando then to set UT99 using only one CPU unit prevents occasionally crash at start.
And OpenGL for graphic is a good choice.

Welcome t the forums... If you say you are a mapper.. then sorry to say that the latest version (v451) literally breaks the editor, which is why a lot of people prefer v436.

Thanks for the info you two and Gecko I know about 4.51 killing the editor. I still map...so 4.36 will do. I love mapping more than playing for I didn't care for 4.51, I thought there was one new in between, but I haven't installed UT in over 10 years...LOL

1) Welcome!

2) You should use this...

...as your picture here.

3) Your family forced you to stop playing UT?!? That's so wrong!
