Hi From Canada

Post by Prot »

I stumbled on this great site, and great community.

I'm an old gamer... late 30's and I greatly miss this version of UT. I played since day one, and had the pleasure of clanning with some of the best players I ever met. On that note, this is a total, and utter long shot, but one of the best players I ever played with was named Xero. I know there are tons of Xero's/Zero's out there, but this guy was probably the best UT CTF player I ever had the pleasure of gaming with until the mighty clan of "High Voltage" scooped him up. I wonder if he/they are still around?

I was never the 'best', but competitive at least.... I played with many clans, most lasting several years. I left UT a few times, but always came back, and even as versions changed, I still can't find the same pleasure from those versions that I got from good ol' 1999 UT.

It's great to see you guys have revived the holy grail of FPS gaming. Great job!

I wasn't a very good player. That's why I switched to mapping. :P

Hey Prot, Yea I'm still around here and there. I actually just reinstalled UT 99 a few months ago and I play a few 1v1's/TDM on occasion. CTF games are hard to find. I agree that nothing will ever top ut99.

I hang out on IRC: irc.gameradius.org in #tdmpickups usually on weekends.

Xero... I wondered if I'd ever run into you out here again. I guess High Voltage is completely gone?

CTF is out there... but the Europeans seem to be the only ones playing it.

I gave up and went to Global Agenda..... I really was getting exceptionally mediocre at it, then they patched it. (I haven't played since the massive upgrade).

UT is still a golden era in FPS for me. It's passed me by.... a lot of very good players seem to still play.
